Was the trial not fair? Does the prosecution not get to pick the jurors as well as the defense? Imo, 6 female jurors was the best thing the prosecution could have hoped for. Women are more apt to give sympathy to someone deemed as a victim than men are.

Tad sexist methinks. What about age and race diversity then. How about a young white hoodie wearing chick?

There was no way a black person would have made it on this jury.

Not sexist at all, it's the truth. I'm sure our female posters here can vouch for that.

Were you at the rally?

Forgot to add. The fact that the prosecution agreed on these jurors proves the whole case was a sham IMHO

I see.

This trial is only a sham to the people who wanted it to go the other way.

Guaranteed if he'd been found guilty, nobody would complain about the jurors except for the people who wanted him found not guilty.

Come on, guys.

True, but I hate to say it. Black lives aren't measured the same. And they spent the whole trial making GZ the victim.

I admit I didn't watch the trial, but how did they do that?

And there was no evidence that he wasn't the victim of an attack, as far as I know.

The only black male in the jury pool was excluded by the prosecution. Pundits on TV assured us it was because he admitted to being a conservative.

When jury selection was complete the defense still had six preemptions available and didnt use them.

Again, pundits on TV assured us that Zimmerman was in trouble because most of the all female jury were mothers, and would sympathetically and emotionally side with the Martins who lost a son.

Pundits assured us that Attorney Guy's emotional closing sealed the deal for the state.

Remember, only one juror had to disagree, and it was a mistrial and the state would get to try again.

Pundits suck

By they, I assume you mean the defense? Is that not their job to make GZ appear the victim in this case?

It's the same argument we have here. By disregarding the following and chasing part of it, not to mention he didn't take the stand, it was easy to justify him killing TM

The part at the end when that McJerk O'Mara pointed out to the jurors a picture of Trayvon with his "musculature" showing really made me cringe. "Scary as hell looking black man, you know you'd have suspected him too" was the unmistakable subtext.

I am have no interest in this case. As an outside observer in a foreign country I find the choice of jury strange. The verdict is what it is, and I am glad there haven't been any violent outbursts. As I may be living in the States I am interested in current events, and quite frankly Japan seems a lot better than the US. There seems to be so much discrimination and uncalled for violence. As for American cable - wow! Edited by Jacque67

The "following and chasing part of it" was not brought up during the trial?

Andrew Sullivan said it well:

...when there are no witnesses but the two individuals involved in a fight, and the victim is dead, and you live in a state that provides “stand your ground” immunity for self-defense, then proving a murder beyond a reasonable doubt is hard.

Yes. It was easier to draw that picture than the aggressor.
