I just saw a small thing on the news about the U.S. post office photographing every piece of mail. It got me to thinking about the state of the U.S.

You have the Democrats that allegedly used to be for the little guy and earning a fair wage for a dollar. Used to be about civil rights. Yet they want to turn around and make all these illegal aliens legal for the sake of some votes. Doesn't matter what it does to depress wages.

Then you have the Republicans that are supposed to be about small government, but they want to spend even more money and have allowed themselves to be taken over by religious nuts getting mixed up in things like Abortion.

Thanks to both of them we have a 16+ trillion dollar debt. Also, seems both sides are cool with everyone's phone records being collected and stored. And both of them are bought and paid for by lobbyists.

The above is just the tip of the iceberg.

Yet what does everyone care about? Some wannabe punk kid and the dimwitted wannabe cop that shot him. I watched CNN for an hour this afternoon. They spent 59.5 minutes on that trial, and then a quick 30 second run through of what else is going on the world. 15 seconds of those were spent on some actor I never heard of from show I never heard of overdosing in Vancouver. As if that's enough, Anderson Cooper has a one hour special about the trial tonight.

I swear there could be an Asteroid heading straight for Earth to wipe out all of mankind and it would probably get mentioned somewhere after 15 minutes of people arguing about the outcome of that trial in Florida.

Hell, I'm guilty of it as well. Just an observation about the silliness of it all. Idiocracy at it's best.

Thankfully the media has gotten past who the father of Anna Nicole Smith's child is. Or Britney Spears not wearing underwear. Or Lindsay Lohan going to rehab for the 25th time.
