Ok here are tips I gethered after gone back and forth on almost all forums and websites dealing with K1 visa. I may have missed something so if you don't mind, share with us your tips and let's make the list even bigger.

Before the interview:

- Read the embassy reviews for your country. There are many things that are specific for each country. Chat on this forum with people who have recently had an interview at the consulate you will be interviewing at. (by Agrab)

- Compile a list of possible interview questions from the lists that are posted on VJ or other sources. (By Redicent)

- Print out this list, have a friend find someone you dont know to ask you these questions and ask for the various documents, in a random order, as a mock interview. If you do this a couple times, you will have greater confidence at the real interview. Confidence goes a long way... (By Redicent)

- Be always organized : make a checklist

- Know Each and Every document you will bring to your interview

- Practice with your Fiance commonly asked questions.

- Whenever you have doubts about something ASK ABOUT IT : no one was born Mister- know -it -all

- Look for posts of people whose visa was denied. Why was it denied?

- Look for posts of people whose visa was approved. Is there a secret to there approval?

- It's better to give them more evidences of a genuine relationship then not enough, just don't over do it: 1000 printed chat logs will just look weird

- Keep one think in mind ----> "One mistake and I'm scr*wd" : This will make you more vigilent while preparing your petition. A missing document, an empty tab, .....Nope! Non o' this is permitted my dear!!!

During the Interview :

- If possible attend the interview with your fiance, especially if there are "red flags" with your case. (By Agrab)

- Make sure you psychologically prepare yourself beforehand for the big day

- Again be organized with your documents: Have a quick view on the whole thing before you go to sleep.

- Prepare what you're gonna wear for the interview beforhand: Another Ugly Truth on the district BUT Looks matter (sometimes...)

Also the famous: "oh! where is my black belt", "which one should I wear, the blue one or the white one???" ........ you won't waste your time in such time- consuming shallow details if you get rid of them the night before the interview.

- Read posts of people who were approved before you go to your interview and think: if they did it, we are doing it too! The future of your relationship lies in this very day SO MOVE YOUR A** AND DO IT!!!!

- Try to calm yourself down. Fear is not to be welcomed. Beside , don't worry , I've made my researches and found out that CO don't eat people, they hold our future beneath their hands no wonder, but they are just humans.... Do what they ask you to do, be prepared and everything is just gonna be OK

You are going to find some post telling you that not getting a lawyer to fill your petition is a big mistake. Funny stuff is : they are lawyers themselves! so they are interested in your pocket ...Oups! I mean in guiding you ....

GOOD FATE

I would like to add that one real good way to organize all that you will need to bring to the interview is to keep it in a tabbed binder that is no bigger than 1-1/2 inches thick (so it can easily slide under the window opening) and have a table of contents in the front page, breaking it down into major sections - official documentation, evidence of support, and evidence of bonafide relationship.

They will be impressed with that. See my example in my link below.

Anything too big to fit in there of course can be brought in a separate package, referenced in the binder.

You impress me! haha i found you in every topic and online almost all the time (like me haha)

I have seen your interview packet and it's amazing. I will send that link to my fiance for him to check.

I have a questions ... saying that showing more than 1000 pages of chat logs is weird, do you think is true? i have a year and a half chat logs of whatsapp (talking almost 17 hours per day) so we have a LOT of pages. Should i just don't print them all? i'm confused.

We have a lot more evidence and i don't know if they will fit on a binder. What will you recomend?

Thank you Leon!!!

In my initial i-129f that i sent to uscis back in march i overloaded them with evidence. i had 2 years worth of letters from my fiance and i had sent 2 years worth of screenshot of skype logs and also bbm messages, facebook messages and etc. i had made 2 copies of the screenshot of our skype, bbm messages, facebook and he will be bringing the 2 and half years worth of letter i sent. i put them all in a binder as well to make it easier for the CO in the embassy.

The tabbed binder is a really great tip. I decided to get one a few days ago for my interview in a few weeks. I think using one can leave a good impression with the consoler because it saves them time and makes everything smoother.

I don't think that anybody wants to see 1000 pages lol. You could just print a weekly sample (or even monthly) and tell the CO that it ALL is available if he/she ends up wanting to see more. Keep it on a flashdrive, print out the samples to put in the binder and bring. Again, look at my table of contents in the link to see how I did it for Yahoo, Skype, and Facebook Messenger. Yahoo ended up only being 50 pages, same with FB Messenger. Skype was even shorter since I just included the call times, and no message text.

Yes, it looks great. I'm even impressed with my work. :D

Oh one other thing, make sure the binder is a flexible one, not sturdy. Some of those windows curve under to give/receive anything.

I think that they don't let you in with a flashdrive to the embassy.

Anyway, i will just print a whole month to sho them.

Thank you very much !!!!!! star_smile.gif

there is no reason to bring over 1000 pages of chat, never in a million years will the CO look at that during a 10 or 15 minute interview. It is best to bring a sampling of different things, email, chats, whatever else you have, perhaps one or 2 from each month that span the length of your relationship. More does not mean better, quality is better than quantity when it comes to the interview, you only have a few minutes with the CO.

Think Accordian File folder.

Interesting reading this from our experience in Colombia and others we have talked with, most have made up their minds about you before you sit down for the interview, from the info you have already submitted, possibly much differnet with other countries.

The fiancee has a tourist visa - she was in and out in 2 minutes, others I have known for a K1 were out in less than 20 minutes.

We could use a quick interview - been 7 months and still waiting,

I sent in a thumb drive of Facebook and Yahoo Chat messages along with my K-1 package and they sent thumb drive back to me and said they don't accept the format. :( Maybe I should have printed out thousands of pages and submit them. Right?

right. you should have done that, instead.
