My NOA2 was sent on Nov 17th :D I have tried calling the NVC and they say they have no record of my petition yet, so it must not have arrived.

My question is, which affidavit of support should I give to my fiance to take to the interview? The i-134 or the i-864? The I-864 is much more detailed, and I'd rather just do the other. Does it matter? :help:

We are sending both to my the Embassy prior to my fiance's interview because they actuall asked for both. But in most cases you will file the I-134 form but if i were you i would wait until your fiance(e) recieves packet 3 from the Embassy and in packet 3 it will have a checklist on the checklist it will tell you which one they want your fiance(e) to complete and send in with packet 3. But as i stated at most of the Embassy's they usually use the I-134. Good luck with the rest of your process.

sorry for my typing looking crazy i meant to say we are sending both I-134, and the !-864 form to my fiance's Embassy in Cairo. Because my lawyer seen that on the checklist they asked for the I-134 form, but in the email the Embassy sent me they asked for the I-864. So my lawyer sent both. The checklist is the list of documents your fiance(e) will need to gather and send in prior to his/her interview. And on the checklist it will tell you which form you will need which in most cases is the I-134 form. I hope that ls a little more clearer than my last post.

Our petition was approved recently and I need to gather financial support information. I will be visiting my fiance in about 10 days, and I wanted to take all of the documents to him. Which of the affidavits of support do I need to fill out? Does it matter? The I-864 is much more detailed than the I-134.

Also - how does everyone find out the date the petition arrived at the NVC and the date it was sent on to the consulate? I tried calling the NVC but there was no answer.

Thank you and to those still waiting... stay patient, it will all be worth it in the end!!

The consulate in Ciudad Juarez doesn't use the I-134 (and the I-864 is for AOS in the US). But you CAN use it since it makes things a whole lot easier.

Also, tons of info on CDJ and the whole process here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37896. Well worth your time to read through the whole thread!

For the NVC, wait about 2 weeks after approval date and email them or call them but you need to talk to an operator. You can also email CDJ to ask if they have received the your file. Be sure to read through the CDJ website's fiance packet info, especially since what you will receive from them will not be accurate: http://usembassy.state.gov/CiudadJuarez/wwwhivfi.html

BE ADVISED TO USE I-134:

Use the I-134 as this is a NON-Immigrate Affidavit of Support. The I-864 is an Immigrant Affidavit of Support. Read the instructions: This is rather comical as some attorneys online advice using the I-864.

Doc, kitkat1 is familiar with the consulate in Mexico, which is the consulate where the OP will be submitting their financial information.

This is the perfect example of how ALL CONSULATES ARE NOT ALIKE and advice that might work for one won't work for another.
