Of course last week Obama urged gun control to honor the re-introduction of twinkies.

Everyone realizes that if 20 children gunned down in school cannot result in background checks, you think a thug killed in legal self defense will? TMs death was a solution...not the problem. We do not need to "stem" the solution to crime, we need to promote it.

Watch and learn.

Interesting that Obama's response is more impotent croaking for gun control. Some here would have expected immediate Federal charges against GZ. You know that ain't happenin' don't you?

Honor TM. For what. Getting kicked out of school ? Drug use ? Stealing ? Vandalism,? Committing aggravated battery and getting shot by someone in self defense as proven in a court of law.

Let me restate it is a tragedy TM is dead.. But Honor him.. Get real. Obama showed his racist colors again. When will he learn to keep his mouth shut .

I'm sorry, but The Kenyan's supposed 'adopting' of Mr. VonMartin really stopped me thinking he had any real relevance.

I have an idea for a statue. Maybe somewhere around the MLK or Lincoln memorial

Obama Urges Stemming ‘Tide of Gun Violence’ to Honor Martin
By Roger Runningen - Jul 14, 2013 12:10 PM PT

President Barack Obama called the killing of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin “a tragedy” for America that should lead citizens to ask if they are “doing all the can to stem the tide of gun violence that claims too many lives across this country on a daily basis.”

“We should ask ourselves, as individuals and as a society, how we can prevent future tragedies like this,” Obama said in a statement. “That’s the way to honor Trayvon Martin.”

The president asked that citizens respect the call for calm made by Martin’s parents.

Now, ,I am not sure why, as a nation America should 'honor' TM any more than any other person needlessly killed in a violent confrontation but to interpret this as merely Obama trying to cut you off from your guns is a tad disingenuous to say the least. Or, are you perhaps suggestion that no one should care about the number of deaths caused by guns in the US and that nothing can be done about it except persuade more people to carry guns? Seems to me that's a very flawed argument indeed, very, ,very flawed.

If The Kenyan announced an airdrop of 10,000 pistols and 800,000 rounds of ammo into Chicago, I might give credence to his opinion .

I guess I don't understand why America should honor Trayvon Martin. Honor him for what? Trying to be a bad a$$ and getting himself killed because of it? Honor him for beating the hell out of someone because he was being followed? I'm not seeing any great accomplishments from Trayvon Maritn.

If he anything good comes out of his death, it should be a lesson that just because someone is following you, you shouldn't beat the hell out of them. If you do, it could cost you your life.

People act like GZ just walked up to TM and blew him away, and then got away with it. This is turning into some kind of national insanity.

Apologies, I am not a 'birther'.

I worry little about his opinion and more what he does with a stoke of a pen. Impotent gun nutters can have all the opinions they want, but when they endanger me and those close to me, by walking around like cocked and loaded tiny Eichmann's, ready to pop off the first time somebody gets in their chubby double chinned little faces, that worries me.

Why do you think I might have the answer to your question? I clearly stated that I don't see any reason to 'honor' TM's death. Having said that, I am not dancing on his grave either. I didn't know him, I do not see him as good or bad, just dead.

BTW what are you suggesting with your 'being followed' comment? Is being followed something law abiding citizens should simply ignore? I am not sure what I would do if I suspected someone was following me but in the dog eat dog world that some people portray the US as, surely ignoring it would be tantamount to announcing oneself as a willing victim? Just asking.

Oh, ok. Personally I think he panders too much to his own view of what his presidential legacy should be - but he's not the only politician guilty of that.

I was responding to the quote from Obama in your post.

No, I'm not saying that if someone is following you it should be ignored. Maybe call the cops. Maybe try to get away. I'm saying that you don't turn around and start beating on them.
