Hi,

Just hang in there, it wont take that long,I got approved in less than a month after my biometrics, yes, you could start working. I got my GC for less than 6 months since I filed. Just pray and have patience of waiting.

The EAD takes about 6 weeks after the biometrics is done and if you have your social security number you can start working after receiving the EAD.

As far as the green card - that will depend on if you have an interview or not. Once you file for AOS NBC (national benefits center) will either send your petition on to your local field office, if this happens you will receive a letter in the mail with an interview appointment. At the interview you will know if you are approved and will receive the green card in the mail shortly there after. This usually all happens with in a few months of the biometrics. Or, If you do not get an interview letter then NBC will keep your petition and process it without an interview. Currently this is taking 7 months to a year. There is no way to know a head of time if you will get an interview or not. My husband's green card was just approved without an interview and it took us over 10 months.
