I met am ExPat from England while I was there and he'd been to almost every Asian county before settling in PI.

He told me "I've driven everywhere, but I've been here for 12 years and I haven't been behind the wheel once." I asked them if they drove crazy in other countries and he said "this is the worst by far, but they rarely have accidents, so who knows?"

lol

There is no shortage of traffic accidents in PI.

What's strange is that I was in Cebu for 3 weeks and I didn't see one accident. Maybe it was a fluke.

I've never gripped a vehicle so tightly. :)

http://www.guardian.co.uk/global-development/poverty-matters/2011/may/11/most-dangerous-roads

this link has a table that has death rate per 100,000 population, Reported and estimated

PI reported is 1.3, estimated is 20

US is 13.9 reported and estimated 13.9

Of course their death rate for the same injuries is probably 10 times higher.

They are not using seat belts.

they have a higher % riding motorcycles

Also Our accident rate is going to be skewed by all the Filipinas we bring over here

and turn loose on our freeways.

My ex's specialty was slamming on the brakes at unexpected times and getting people to run into her.

So it was officially the other persons faultrolleyes.gif

Once she had a flat and pulled onto the shoulder in the middle of the freeway to try and change it.

A cop came along and told her she couldn't change it there.

She argued for a few minutes but eventually agreed that she would drive on the flat to the nearest place to get the flat fixed

with the cop following her with lights flashing protecting her rear.

The cop was giving her directions to the shop over his bullhorn.

She had trouble understanding something he said so she slammed on the brakes and he slammed into herrolleyes.gif . I'd put the

rolling on the ground laughing icon but my kid was in the car. City paid for that.

I think she was rear ended about 3 times in 9 months.

She has about 15 years experiance now

Her latest adventure was running into the wall of a pawnshop.

She told the cop it was the fault of the parking space stop block because it didn't stop her.

OMG I feel out of my chair. Did that really happen or is this BS ? That might be one of the funniest things I have ever heard. Guess you have to be on the Pinay social circle to understand.
