i'm super glad that i don't carry a gun to buy paper towels.

I'm super glad that most people don't.

All it takes is one person with 17 items in the 15 items or less lane and all hell breaks loose.

I know, right?

I leave my pistol in the car.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

see, i check my backseat/floorspace when i get in the car, always have. and to make sure that i'm not going to meet the same fate as greg germann in child's play 2 i wouldn't leave guns or knives or scissors etc, in the car for my stowaway to slaughter me with. i don't believe the car is a safe place for weapons, they can be used against you.

Oh yes they have them. How do you think the cops make a living.. Standard procedure to hand over 100 (p) with you license.

Similar to Ukraine, only in Ukraine they tell you how much bribe to give them and they prefer US $ or Euros. Always keep some! There is a joke here...

Speeding...$10

Speeding and no drivers license....$50

Speeding, no drivers license and drunk.....JACKPOT!!!!!!!!!!!

Cops get paid $170 to $200 per MONTH. Officially. They earn 10 times that in "black money". Everyone has "white money" jobs and "black money" income. It is accepted because no one makes enough "white money" to actually live on. It is no tunusual for three generation of a family to live in one 2 or 3 room flat and combine all their income to survive.

Bribes are commonplace for every interaction with government officials for anything. You want a dog license...pay a bribe. You want to buy a train ticket? The ticket seller says "Sorry, all sold out" ...."but, sir, I happen to have some tickets I bought myself and will sell those to you, but of course they are a little more expensive, $100 instead of $72" OK. She then prints the tickets from the normal machine hands them over and takes $100 from you, rings up $72 and keeps the difference.idea9dv.gif

In the Soviet Union it was worse. Alla waited in line for lemons one day.

"Four lemons please"

Sorry only two lemons per person

"But I have a son and mother at home"

Then tell one of them to come get in line

"But my mother is sick and my son is very small"

Tough shitski

"Do you get two lemons?"

Yes

"will you sell me YOUR lemons"

YES. 3 Rubles.

"3 Rubles! Lemons are 50 koppec!"

MY lemons are 3 rubles

I LOVE Ukraine! But it always bothers me to see people work so hard just for the bare minimum. While funny on the small scale, corruption is a major reason that the economy here simply cannot thrive despite huge natural resources and incredible agriculture. It is the "breadbasket of Europe" the major source for coal and natural gas, steel and manufacturing, the only ice free ports in Eastern Europe, yet all those things are so bottled up by a few former communist party leaders, Ogliarchs, that the people get little benefit from it.

And Yeah, I am sure you could bribe your way out of murder.

Right

I always carry mine attached to me. A purse is a bad place for it also.

All it takes is one person with 17 items in the 15 items or less lane and all hell breaks loose.

THAT does not happen in Vermont!

I have to admit to occasionally parking in the "For Customers with Children" spaces and when the people point their guns at me I say "Hey, I have children!"

i'm super glad that i don't carry a gun to buy paper towels.

OMG, me too.

You hate shopping.. You are not female.

My wife is into coupons now . I just carry her and find a chair and read or play a game.

I have to brag

We went to CVS the other day.. She got 40 dollars worth of stuff and got 4 bucks back.

Alla is a coupon and discount hog also. Doesn't want to buy anything that isn't at least 40% off. This is why she calls American clothes and shoes "almost free"

She arrives like a rock star here in Ukraine with her large suitcases full of clothing gifts for her friends, laptop computers that they ordered "online" to be delivered to OUR house! idea9dv.gif For several weeks before we leave this stuff shows up at our house.

For a few friends that have small children, she goes to garage sales and buys up children's clothes for 10-50 cents per item and gives her friends about a years supply of kids clothes as gifts! You know those shopping carts full of discount cosmetics...lipsticks and things...in the pharmacy? Oh yeah, boxes of that stuff! We are allowed 2 bags each 27 kg each on overseas flights, we stuff our things into one bag and the other three are gifts and computer deliverieslaughing.gif

If anyone says anything, a small bribe will take care of the issue, or we can just pay the "VIP fee" ($40) upon arriving and skip all the customs stuff altogether.tongue.png

Why not?

Guns keep us safe and polite. It helps people to countrolleyes.gif

It also has floppy drives. The TRS-80 I remember used a cassette recorder for read-write.

I learned to program on a Radio Shack cassette that displayed on the TV. I can't remember the exact TRS model. It was 1984 or there abouts.

After that I decided I'd be better at fixing them. ;)

Guns help people count?

I think he means "he feels like he now counts" when he has that steely pistola of machismo thunder strapped on his body.

A sense of being "a real man", finally with a working weapon!
