Hi everyone! Just wanted to share that I've received my 10-yr green card a few weeks back. Filed my ROC with CSC, got an RFE and a week after filing our RFE we got a reply congratulating us for my ROC with no interview needed. It took a while but in all, had to wait about 8 months with the RFE. We live in Houston, TX.

My advice to anyone in the process of filing: Overwhelm them with a lot of evidence! Especially financial records that show both of you sharing or using the same account/s. Good luck to everyone!

My spouse's Conditional GC arrived in the mail today! Crazy happy to now get a bit of a breather. Now, trying to decide if it's worht it to sign up for the Global Entry program; it'd be great for her to be able to use TSA Pre, when we travel.

I checked USPS website today and was able to verify that CSC received my application to remove conditions on the GC this morning (11:10 AM to be exact).

My AOS took 3 months. I've been reading other posts and it seems that ROC takes much longer and in fact, for some, they haven't received their 10-year GC more than 1 year after filing ROC. Why is that?

Check my timeline for K-1 visa & AOS details

It's called the "government process." No rush. Before they updated the website to change the way they report how long (average length of waiting for an application to be processed) it said that they were working on ROC petitions received OCT 2015. This was just last month and they were busily working on the petitions they received in OCT. Just hang on. goodness always prevails.

we believe we are about 3/4 of the way through the ROC process. We submitted petition in April 2016. Still buying concert tickets, vacay reservations, and long term planning for the future. life goes on.

Just stopping by to see how all the same sex couples did from two years ago after the defense of marriage law went down. What an exciting time it was. I was married in April, 2014 and now we are on the last step of removal of conditions. Damn, it went by quickly since the wedding. Prior to that was so slow with the waiting and the worry.

We hope to have the permanent green card by Christmas. Next step will be to see if the husband wants USA citizenship. If he decides to take it he will have to sacrifice his birth citizenship. I am not sure if he is prepared to do that.

Good luck to you guys just getting started.

Can you please fill in your timeline so others can see for comparison how long your various immigration applications took? Thanks.

We applied for the K1 in January 2014. For the Green card in August 2015 with no AOS Interview. Now the ROC GC is next year May application. Sounds like the ROC 10 Year Green card comes 8-10 months after submission? It would then be time to submit for a N-400 Citizenship...wow

David - if you are still in New York - you'll be submitting your ROC to the Vermont Service Center - which is taking 10-12 months. Many VSC I-751ers are finding that they are submitting citizenship paperwork before hearing about their I-751 results.

We submitted in April 2016. Of the 100-or-so people on VJ who submitted in April 2016, only ONE person has been approved so far - and they were at the California Service Center.

Good luck with YOUR journey!

Yikes....10-12 months!! Yes to mention your idea, we will be applying for US Citizenship 3 months before he hits the 3 year mark. With an African passport he requires a visa to travel almost everywhere except for 81 countries and they are NOT the ones you want to normally visit. The Green card does not have the same status outside of the USA as it did before. However, we are able to visit your (former) country soon. The visa process for Australia was thorough and very paperwork intensive as well.....

However, as I and moan about process, I should be happy to be with him here..and I am....I guess the long processing times are important as it weeds out the people engaged in fraud so that is a good thing.....just saying.

Some fraudsters are still able to get through and the immigration system is not fool-proof.

Out of curiosity, I recall reading about some right-wingers claiming that if DOMA was to be declared unconstitutional that immigration fraud would increase as straight people will now start marrying someone of the same sex to get immigration benefits. I wonder what happened to that scaremongering.

Died a natural death like the rest of the nonsense they spout. I am surprised fraudsters get through this process but hey the USCIS is made up of humans...;-(
