that envelope thing they give you to protect..not sure against what..moisture? scratches?

Unauthorized wireless access to the data held on the embedded RFID chip, at least in theory. Whether or not that little paper envelope actually works is anyone's guess

Eighteen years in the US and I still don't understand Velveeta, TV ads for prescription drugs, only getting 2 weeks paid vacation, or why anyone believes anything they see on Fox "News".

USCIS treated us the same as opposite sex couples...all was dont via email after then K1 visa was approved and he arrived here. We did not have an interview..(how does USCIS determine that I wonder?). The AOS from start to finish (conditional I-551) was 8 months to receive the GC in the mail.

Of note: The application was always at the Lee Summit MO location the whole time and it never came to New York Processing Centre...now he is very happy and grateful to come here. He kisses the card each time he takes it out of that envelope thing they give you to protect..not sure against what..moisture? scratches?

The green card has an RFID chip in it that could wreak havoc with other RFID cards or card readers. The envelope thing protects the RFID chip from getting scrambled or scrambling something else!!!

The envelope has caused us a hassle. My spouse has had to remove the envelope from her Australian passport, because it rendered the readable line in her passport (on the bio page) unreadable!!! Or maybe having the RFID chip caused the problem. Either way - she now carries it separately.

We just received another notice yesterday that there is a system wide delay on the issue of EAD's/AP's, thus the delay for my spouse's card. For us, everything seems to be working slow and reverse order. Our green card will arrive in just five months, with the interview being waived, which we were never told that possibility existed. And, then we find out that the EAD/AP card is delayed well past the expected 75-90 days. Getting the green card is good, but my spouse is very anxious to get a job and know that he can travel back to his home if there is a family emergency. I'm glad we have our this group, Binational Same Sex Couples. I hope we can all keep in contact with each other as we begin our new lives as couples navigating in a new world.

Glad to see people are navigating the ROC process. Looking forward to updates from everyone!

We will be eligible to file ours in December, which will come up fast, I'm sure...

It took us two years just to get the green card so we have another two years to go for ROC. Congratulations to all of you who are finally at ROC. Now you have only one more year for citizenship.

Actually, you could be eligible for naturalization after 3 years if you received your GC via marriage with a US Citizen. See this link: http://www.uscis.gov/us-citizenship/citizenship-through-naturalization/naturalization-spouses-us-citizens

Yes, you do multiple biometrics. Think of it as a chance to take a better picture for the next card. :)
