Congratulations. Its a wonderful feeling when you know you can be together. Although the Adjustment of Status seems like another long wait, at least you will be together. Best wishes always and keep us all up to date.

Hey, any of us preparing to remove conditions? I get my green card back in October 2013 shortly after DOMA fell and now getting ready to remove conditions. I wonder if we need to start a new thread for same-sex couples who are removing conditions?

Hello from Ft Lauderdale. We're gathering the final documents to file for removal of conditions and hope to file within a week or so. It's hard to believe 21 months has passed already. Have you already filed? How's it progressing?

Hi everyone! Been a while since I posted. Cannot believe our removal of conditions window opens in just over 2 months.

Hey, Jerni. Time flies, huh? Our window just opened and we should have the paperwork filed in a week or so. :) We'll post progress updates as things move along.

Out of curiosity: Has anyone reached the point of ROC yet? (I-751, Removal of Conditions)? It's been awhile since I read this thread, and I do intend to comb through recent posts, but I figured it's also worth asking in case people hadn't posted about it yet. I feel like this must be coming up SOON for some of the first couples (though, we're among the "first couples" and we're not quite there yet.) I'm wondering how it's going for people out there with this step.

Hey, Ferricide. Our window just opened and we'll be filing the paperwork in a week or so. Can't believe it's here already. We'll post updates as things progress.

Well, almost 14 months after we filed for AOS, the Green Card arrived today, exactly a week after our interview. We had originally received a potential interview waiver letter, but in April received an interview appointment notice for May 10. We had been collecting relationship evidence over the last year, so the pictures and supporting documentation were ready. We were also asked to bring affidavits from two family members on each side of the family attesting to the validity of our marriage, so that required a little work as a couple of affidavits had to be done in Portuguese and completed in Brazil. But we were pretty well prepared on the big day, and the process went pretty smooothly.

Thanks to everyone who has been with us during this process, and now we can give USCIS a rest for a couple years!

Parabens on getting to the end of the AOS process from another American-Brazilian couple! Our break from USCIS has just ended as our window to remove conditions just opened. Enjoy not thinking about them for a while. :) Ciao from Ft Lauderdale.

Hello everyone!

I'm fairly new to the VJ forums and have only just found this thread. My fiancée and I have been together 18+ years and for so long never thought we'd be where we are...but we are! We lived together for over 10 years, before having to go back to a bi-national relationship. And, while it sucks, we've dealt as best we could (we've argued over Skype plenty of times ;) ). We kind of started the K-1 process when DOMA fell, but delayed a bit so that she could complete a project at her job that presented a unique opportunity. Plus, she didn't like the idea of leaving a good job in her field to possibly being unemployed for an indeterminate amount of time. However, when the Supreme Court decision came down, we figured we'd better get while the gettin' was good. Here's what we have, so far:

I-129F sent 08/09/2015
NOA1 received 08/12/2015, hardcopy received 08/22/2015
NOA2 received 09/14/2015
Now, we're waiting four our case to be sent to the NVC. Hard to believe we'll (hopefully) be married by this time next year.
Congratulations to everyone that have seen a positive end to a long journey. And, to those that are still waiting...hang in there, your time will come!

Tamcloud, welcome to the VJ forums! I am always encouraged to hear of couples together for so long, and I'm very happy that you recently had your petition approved!

To add to the good news, this Friday our own petition was approved--and it was amazing how happy Harel and I both were, it was perhaps one of our happiest moments, even more so than when we first met or became engaged.

Hi! My wife and I filed for an adjustment of status shortly after SCOTUS ended DOMA in 2013. I received my 2 year green card in October 2013. I am now in the ROC process. I had my biometrics done on 9/17/15 and am now patiently waiting for more news.

Our road has been much longer. Although we also filed right after DOMA in August 2013, our applications have taken much longer times. Although we just received word that we will not be required for our AOS interview, our green card is still 60 days away. Currently we are on Day 104 for the EAD/AP. It's frustrating, but I'm glad to see many of you were able to get everything done in less than a year. Hope to see some new members join this group.

USCIS treated us the same as opposite sex couples...all was dont via email after then K1 visa was approved and he arrived here. We did not have an interview..(how does USCIS determine that I wonder?). The AOS from start to finish (conditional I-551) was 8 months to receive the GC in the mail.

Of note: The application was always at the Lee Summit MO location the whole time and it never came to New York Processing Centre...now he is very happy and grateful to come here. He kisses the card each time he takes it out of that envelope thing they give you to protect..not sure against what..moisture? scratches?
