i dont think they are going to read them all but if you think there is something they should not read just cut them, that is how we did.

and try not to include a lot of them.

we just included up to 50 pages of our facebook conversation. as for the call logs we included them a complete set. we cut nothing

We included a very large portion of skype chatlog. I too thought they would not read it, but apparently they did. Can't say they read it word for word, but they pulled an interview question from the chat log. We pulled two year's worth of chat and then provided samples at periods throughout the year. I seem to recall it was about 50 pages out of thousands and thousands. Any samples provided were risque free......they really only want to establish that you communicate and have been communicating. I believe they care less about what you talk about and more about the fact you talk/communicate. best of luck guys.

my fiance is from the state of Georgia where same sex marriage is not recognized.

but we stated in the letter of affidavit that we are going to get married in new york where same sex marriage is recognized

so dont worry if your fiance is from the state where the same sex marriage is not recognized, just make sure in the affidavit of intent to marry you state you are going to get married in the state where same sex marriage is recognized

we did like that and we got aproved

Do we need to show any evidence that we will get married in a state where same sex marriage legal besides the intent to marry?

no you dont need to show any evidences that you are going to get married in the state where same sex marriage is legal.

at least they did not ask me to show.

the consular officer just asked me where we were going to get married, that's it.

Hi all. Here's a Japan-US (male) couple!

I'm (Japanese) a graduate student here in the United States, and I'm on F-1 visa (for a number of years). We plan to get married this March. Getting an F-1 visa was very easy for me, coming from Japan. This time, however, I'm overwhelmed by the amount of paperwork I need to complete/file in order for me to adjust my status from a 'non-immigrant' to 'immigrant.'

We're not going to hire a lawyer because I have been a good student in the United States and have not violated my F-1 status for the past 10 years or so...(I got two 5-year F-1 visas). I will soon finish my Ph.D., and I know that my future employee will probably be able to sponsor me for a green card, but we agreed to simplify and expedite the transition process from F-1 to PR. Plus we will have dated for three years by then. So we decided to tie the knot on our third anniversary.

So happy DOMA is dead, and we are free to marry (not in my state, however).

The web is filled with lawyer sites that address this same topic in an erroneous manner. Perhaps they all sat in the same briefing where the information was presented incorrectly. Either way this is not an issue if addressed correctly. As long as you state your intent to marry in a state that recognizes marriage equality, then that issue is out the window.

Since I live in a state that does not recognize or issue same-sex marriage licenses, my attorney, Lavi Soloway, instructed me to include the state we would marry in the letter of intent. We had no problems.

I don't know for sure but I'm pretty sure you cannot travel outside the U.S. before you have the green card unless you apply for Advance Parole...anyone else?

AFTER you receive your green card you are free to travel outside the US if it's for not more than a year, before that it all depends on your status. My wife had an H1B visa so she could have travel outside the US before receiving the green card

Where do you plan to get married? And you're from what state?

I'm in Illinois, and we'll get married in Minnesota.

I have one question: Would it raise a red flag for USCIS if we sent our immigration documents on the day we get married? I do not believe this is a problem, given we've been preparing for these documents for months! I need to have my I-695 completed by a civil surgeon.

Has anyone tried to get a name change through marriage?

We just filed for a K-1 a few days ago, and I'd like to take her last name after we get married. Ohio doesn't recognize same-sex marriage, so I'm a bit confused about our options. Social security should take our NY marriage certificate as proof of name change, right? But from what I understand I would have to change my name through a court order for it to be valid in OH. Since I'm the beneficiary, I'm not even sure when I would be able to do this. Before we file? After we get the AOS NOA1? Would I have to wait all the way until I get my green card? There's also the whole cluster of traveling back to a country that doesn't recognize same-sex marriage with passport and green card in different names. Anyone have any experience with this? When I visited her on a B2 I had my visa checked 5 times before I even got to board the plane to the US. I'm afraid some bigot will refuse to let me on. This shouldn't have to be this complicated...
