My now wife and I were already living in the US since she has an H1B. After 15 years together we got married on August 7, 2013 in Iowa (We live in Texas you know). Sent the papers on Oct 1, 2013. Received on Oct 2, 2013. We did not use a lawyer, could not afford one. Hopefully we won't need one.

I just got off skype with my partner who just forwarded me an email of our NOA2 for our I-129F K1 petition! I am super excited now! We met 11 years ago and have been patiently waiting for the fall of DOMA! That day came in June. Here is a bit of statistics for you:

It took 2 weeks to get our NOA1 from the time of mailing. It has been 59 days to receive NOA2 with no RFE. My partner lives in a non-marriage equality state. Our petition was processed at CSC in California. I am the foreign partner so it will be on its way to Hong Kong soon! Thank you VJ! The guide is very helpful!

Finally after 5 1/2 weeks of waiting since we received our NAO2 my application is now at the NVC and soon will be on its way to vancouver. Hoping things move much faster now

Congrats! It seems like my fiancée and I are in the same boat as you guys. We send our K-1 application to TSC on 25-Sep and received our NOA1 02-Oct informing us of case transfer to CSC.

We were psyched to see you received your NOA2 just 41 days after your NOA1 date! That's pretty amazing! We hope that we get ours soon too.

I and my fiancé are a bi-national couple. I am from Arkansas and he is from Dominican Republic. We have been together since August of 2009. We have received the NOA1 and are awaiting the NOA2. Our fingers are crossed that we don't get an RFE. Our letters did state very clearly that we would marry in Waterloo, Iowa. This idea of asking for a copy of the law is total "BS". If it continues, it needs to be brought to the attention of our Congressman/Senators. yes, I know they have much more at stake at the moment than listening to our whines.

Hey everyone!

Thanks to djv-tco for introducing me to this thread!

Partner and I have been together for almost 8 years, he's from Massachusetts, I'm originally from Italy. Now living in exile since 2011 when we were "forced" to leave the States after my OPT came to an end. Like someone else said, thankfully Europe and its laws were much more welcoming, and my partner was able to get a EEA visa because of our relationship.

We're also patiently waiting for our NOA2, mid-August filers with NOA 1 received on 8/21.

We did use a lawyer (we value peace of mind and have had enough of this immigration BS!), and he told me that what some of the adjudicating officers are doing (asking to provide for a copy of marriage laws) is beyond ridiculous, and should that happen to any of his firm's cases, they would certainly bring it to the attention of the administration.

Hang in there, binational couples!

Your case has been moving fast!!!! :-) We are in a similar situation.. Together for 15 years. Moved to USA through an H1B visa, DOMA repealed, applied for I-130, I-485, I-131 and I765. We just did that at the beginning of October. We have NOA1, hopefully our case will move as fast as yours. Good luck in the interview!!

He said adjudicators should not expect anything beyond "intent to marry", stating that couples (straight or gay) are NOT required to have a clear idea of where they're going to marry when they file for a K-1 petition.

Again, all that needs to be stated is the "intent to marry". Of course, guidance (for either straight or gay) is to be as specific as possible (hence enhancing the credibility of the statement), however, it should not result in any RFEs.

Feeling much better about this now!

this waiting is killing me.. and i cant even check my case status because my account in uscis is locked.. (wrong password). ug..

We are a same sex couple from Texas as well. We filed on July 12th and were interviewed on October 3rd and approved. We got the card production email this morning. Interview went very well. Our approval is from Houston. I know a couple of Dallas cases where they were interviewed 9-10 days back and have not seen a change in status. A lot of folks are not using a lawyer. We did but I dont think its necessary. Gather a lot of evidence to show its a genuine marriage. Take copies of everything to the interview including two sets of photos as they are retaining one set for the file. Good luck.

We filed for our K1 towards the end of July and just got our approval on October 1st! I got another update from USCIS on Oct. 3, saying our case was sent to DOS & I got our official NOA2 in the mail yesterday!

I think things have been moving quickly - we didnt expect anything till December, especially now with the govt. shutdown. I hope the officers are not making things more difficult for your cases - Mine went smoothly so far, although I do live in Massachusetts, which has had same-sex marriage for quite some time.
