I expect to see an increased push for more states than the current 27 to enact "stand your ground" laws. There will be more proposals for "constitutional concealed carry"...Vermont style, no license needed and I expect there to be a surge in NRA membership and sales of smallish handguns.

I also expect no riots.

This was obvious from the beginning, Plainly obvious. I will spell it out for you again...

1. All the evidence you saw in the trial was in their hands when they declined to prosecute initially. They declined to prosecute because they knew they could not get a conviction. NOT because the entire police department, the State's attorney's office and the forensic people are racist. Did any idiot seriously believe that?

2. They avoided the Grand Jury and the prosecutor indicted him herself. Seeing what we see now, the Grand Jury would not have indicted him. Usually you could indict a ham sandwich because only one side tells the story...but the prosecution witnesses were better fo GZ than anyone else.

3. They charged him with a crime he could never be found guilty of, but it was the WORST crime they could possibly charge him with. For show. The standard for 2nd degree murder is way out of left field for this incident. Manslaughter was a huge stretch and negligent homicide may have been a possibility...at least then refusing the order not to follow would have had some relevence. In classic self defense, it has none.

4. The defense declined "Stand Your Ground" Idiots thought was good for TM. It was not. Classic self defense puts the burden on the state to prove something pretty much unprovable...that GZ did not have a fear of severe injury. It also rules out "who hit John", so to speak, and who followed who.

The outcome was known before the jury was picked. By both sides. The trial was a show, it should never have happened. It was to appease people that cannot be appeased. The only way they could have got a conviction is if all 6 jurors disregarded the instrucions and all the evidence and convicted GZ "just because". That was never going to happen. This trial was forced by completely outside influences, including the President of the United States who has no business in a local murder trial. This is not and never was a "civil rights" issue and never will be.

There will be no Federal charges, there is no offense which is covered by Federal law. Legal self defense is not "racist" There will be alot of Federal "noise". No charges. More Obama smoke and mirrors. TM has no civil right to attack GZ and you cannot prove that GZ would not have shot a white guy that attacked him...he probably would. I would. So how does this even have a possibility of being a civil rights issue? the FBI has already interviewed 22 people and has found no evidence of Federal violations. They will interview more, they have to

The prospect of a civil trial is very dim, but i expect one because all it takes is a lawyer to handle it for a share of the book royalties. Think they can find one?

I can tell you how that will go if you care to know now. This is not like OJ Simpson. OJ was found not guilty of killing under the criminal system which has a higher standard than the civil system. He was then found to have been responsible for "wrongful death" under a lesser, civil, standard. OJ said he did not do it. GZ has never said he did not "do it" HE DID! But a jury has just found that the death was NOT wrongful and that he did the correct, or at least allowable, thing under the law in killing TM. In a civil case you would have to prove what he did WAS wrongful under the law. How?

A civil case may bring a settlement, probably not a verdict. GZ will be flooded with donations and the donations will be used to pay the settlement...go away and STFU! basically. Micheal Jackson did it. I suggest GZ's "people" get in touch with TM's "people" tomorrow and work something out.

Perjury and contempt for concealing funds during bond hearings? Not a chance. HE WAS ACQUITTED! You are going to try and say he lied about his funds for bail he should never have had to pay????????? It would just be more money they would need to return to him

This is over but for some noise, no riots, and a probable civil suit which will be settled. GZ will disappear somewhere and go live quietly.

I am thinking that if the little burglar's parents want to profit from their son attacking a stranger they should pony up and get it the hard way, through the courts and appeals process
