when you call in to NSCS, what status you get from a human?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Most casefiles that were shipped off to MSC or have a MSC Receipt #

don't get added in to the USCIS tracking system immediately.

At some point, it'll get added,

but

MOST are rerouted to a local office. Is best to contact USCIS via telephone, and at least talk to a CSR, asking for casefile status.

Speed Hint - when calling, punch no buttons after dialing, when a spanish speaker comes on the line, let them wind down, then say 'English Please'

then when they get through talking -

give over the MSC receipt # and some biodata on the petitioner and the beneficiary.

Then - if a CSR can't see it, ask for an ISO.

At some point, talking with an ISO is useful, you can learn which local USCIS office it went to, and later on , if'n the petitioner wants more real info, can go in via an infopass appointment.

Ultimately, if it went to a local office, only the local office has current case info. When the case is approved, though, an update is made in the online status system, so that's a plus.

Many of us (myself included ) are OCD about this stuff and want instant status updates. Tis very hard to do, since 15 AUG 2012, the date that MSC got involved with casefile stuff.
