I was wondering what everyone does on Christmas day. Especially those who are spending their first Christmas together.

I am wondering what your spouse thinks of Christmas here as far as decorations and shopping and chaos everywhere goes.

I think Hicham is working this Christmas because his boss is going to the Mecca and leaving him in charge. Usually we spend the day with my Grandparents.

How about you guys?

Khallid is loving all the Christmas decorations this year. Between him and my daughter, they continue to put something new Christmasy every day. Christmas will be spent at my parents house. My mom always goes WAY overboard with gifts and it's like a mini mall in their living room! Then of course we will eat, eat and eat. :P Oh, I can't forgot our family Christmas tradition of watching "The Christmas Story" over and over that day. I never get tired of that movie. :star:

I forgot about theChristmas Story. I think Hicham will love that. It's on nonstop on TBS or is it TNT or USA? I'll find it i'm sure.

i feel christmas is an exercise in consumerism (greed - one of the 7 deadly sins.......). nor am i into the decorate the inside and especially the outside with stuff. i have a few neighbors who feel the outside of their house should be seen from space........

fortunately nessa has similar feelings to mine about christmas. :)

My parents have an attic full of ornaments and decorations that they have acquired over many years from friends and family. When my brother and I were younger we used to love to decorate but that was before we got to the age of being able to go into the attic and get stuff down and taking things down after Christmas. Last year my parents didn't get a tree and my Mom regretted it. We got a tree last weekend and decorated and put some lights up outside. Even though it's a pain I still like having a tree at least.

I'm w/ ya there, Charles... unfortunately, I still get drawn in b/c I feel I *have* to buy for the neices/nephews, and then I feel obligated to get friends something (specially if I know they got me something), then closer to xmas I start feeling like I *need* to get the family members something..... ugghhhh...... it's obligatory, shameful consumerism.

but I digress.... Said is looking forward to it, he's been here before around holidays (not w/ me, due to work) and he likes all of it, I think. As for what we'll do, not much this year probably. We have an "every other year" policy w/ the family. This is the "off" year, where my siblings spend xmas w/ their spouse's family. So, that means, if Said is here, we'll eat a bite w/ mom & dad, then do something on our own. Probably won't even do "traditional" xmas food - maybe steak on the grill and a baked potatoe! We'll probably head out visiting friends for the afternoon, or maybe just chill at home w/ the dogs.... all that to say: NO DEFINITE PLANS! :P

This will be Mohammed's 3rd Christmas here. We wake early on Christmas morning and go to my daughter's house and watch Lexy open gifts. Then we have breakfast and coffee. They have other places to go so we go home and watch movies. He was suprised his first year that everything closed down on Christmas.

Last Christmas was Wadi's first in the US. We go to my aunt and uncle's house for Christmas Eve dinner. The tradition is to have lobsters - Wadi was a big fan of that. We go to my Dad's in CT for XMas day. Wadi enjoys the gift exchanging and eating for sure!

I'm thinking of doing stockings for us this year. Woops! I mean Santa is.

We go to my parents'. They live 10 minutes from us.

First, our Xmas Eve dinner is always cheese fondue and tons of finger food.

Xmas morning, my mom still insists on stockings, so we go through those, then usually some presents. However, I have FINALLY, after many years of begging, gotten her to agree to NO PRESENTS this year...yay!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are all over the age of 30 and no little kids, so it's totally unnecessary.

Then we make breakfast, then we eat all day, nap, play with all the dogs, which usually means 6-8 dogs in the house if my brothers have come home.

Finally, our xmas dinner has always been ravioli & spicey italian sausages, which we happily repeat for Easter, btw.

SO has had about 15 Christmases in the US, and he's quite happy with the gift getting aspect of the holiday.

How can one claim God cares to judge a fornicator over judging a lying, conniving bully? I guess you would if you are the lying, conniving bully.
