I have been reading this forum for an hour regarding preparation after getting the MNL case number (thanks Hank for the Useful information link) I don't have my MNL case number yet, although I have a feeling that I will have it on Monday by calling NVC (We're a June 19th NOA2 and TSC already shipped it to DOS July 11).

Not sure if this question has been brought before here, but let's say I haven't gotten my MNL case number yet this week, can I already attend the CFO seminar? And is yes, what are these "Other documents as may be required by the counselors;" requirement?

TIA!

There is no expiration of the certificate. My wife got done with this CFO thing two weeks ago. You will be given a certificate and if just like my wife you haven't done the US Embassy interview just yet, you'll have to go back there after the interview and they will stamp a sticker on your passport before you leave Manila for the US.

Hello! I attended the seminar 2weeks ago while waiting for interview.

Other documents may include parental advice and parental conscent if the concerned parties are within the age of 18-25. IDS of parents or guardians must also be present to back up your documents. :) photo copy of the petitioner's passport bio page / birth certificate. CENOMAR, NBI CLEARANCE, 2 government Ids. These are the documents i brought along with me. Fortunately, the counselor haven't asked anything from me during the interview. :)

Don't forget some photos as well. Other counselors asks for some picture of you and your fiance. :)

  • You may avail of the Guidance and Counseling Session even while you are still processing or waiting for your visa. If such is the case, you will only be issued the GCC. Once your visa is released, you will return to CFO to continue with your registration. The CFO sticker will then be affixed on your passport.

The GCP certificate does not expire; it has a lifetime validity provided that the petitioner is still the same partner/fiance/spouse who petitioned you. In the event that a different partner/fiance/spouse petitioned you, then you need to register with CFO again.

Other documents as may be required by the counselors depends on your case or situation. As for me, I was asked to present my fiance's divorce decrees, pictures & my passport. while the other counselee(s) were asked different documents

Thanks everyone!! But I didn't know about the age. I am 25 but turning 26 on Sept and my fiance (USC) is already 26. Do I still need parent consent? I think I read somewhere it's 18-21 that needs consent. Can someone clarify this? Thank you!!

You should be fine, but it doesn't hurt to get it just in case. You would be getting "Parental Advice" by the way. Parental Consent is for those 18-21 while Parental Advice is for those 21-25.

(from THAT link :) )

** From the Family Code of the Philippines: it's 21-25 years old for advice and 18-21 years old for consent. (Some are posted on VJ that they were not asked for this, yet others have been asked, so be prepared) Bring the ID of the parents, plus copies, postal ID should be adequate.

  • 5 months later...

hi! Just want to ask if when should I get my CFO? before or after my interview?

if you do CFO before interview, you just have to go back to CFO to get the sticker on your passport.

if you do it when you already have your visa, you can have the certificate and sticker in 1 day, so no hassle of having to go back

up to you but whenever is fine
