Vandals on Sunday tore through the Conleys' $800,000 custom home, still under construction, and scrawled profanities and racist epithets on the walls of several rooms. One read, "(Expletive) BLAKS" (sic). Another, "NO BLACKS."

The vandals also punched holes in the walls and ceiling, and cut gashes into the cabinets and a hand-carved front door. It's unclear how much the damage will cost or how long it will take to make repairs.

"We're not going to be run away by . . . racists," Judith said. "One doesn't want to hear it, or believe it, but racism is still an issue. As much as you try to fight it, racism is alive and well."

Walter learned of the damage on Sunday while he sat in church. He received a message from his painter, who had stopped by to do some work. Neighbors reported seeing a white truck with a construction rack parked in front of the Litchfield Park home Sunday morning.

.....

For the Conleys, there is no doubt their race made them targets for this crime.

....

For Judith, who has been engaged in anti-racism training for nearly two decades, it's a chilling reminder that her work isn't likely to end anytime soon.

"It's more important than ever," she said. "There are many people who haven't gotten over the Civil War and are still fighting it and are still working to keep Blacks 'in their place' as second-class citizens."

just wrong and terrible...

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Hopefully they will find and punish the vandals.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I fail to see the big deal. Sure, racism is still prevalent and this sort of thing happens EVERYDAY. It's not newsworthy...we know it happens. Why is a piece done on this couple? Because they appear to be well off?

I would certainly like to see another side of the racism story too...how about once writing that article where white people are subjected to racism? If you don't think that happens, then you are mistaken. In fact, they can do it legally and name it something fancy like "affirmative action."

No, this article isn't about vandalism...this article is about racism. If this was a simple case of vandalism, it wouldn't have gotten printed. And if you don't think affirmative action is a form of racism, you are misguided.

Sure, it is indeed racism. But I don't think it's newsworthy. Go walk around the Phoenix area (that article is from the Arizona Republic) and pick other racist vandalism off the walls...is that newsworthy? This sort of thing happens everywhere and all the time. This time a well-to-do couple got their custom built house vandalised...submit a police report and file a claim with your insurance. It's not news.

I can imagine someone reading this saying "OMG, HOW HORRIBLE...I DIDN'T REALIZE PEOPLE WERE STILL RACIST!"
