Should I email Algiers Consulate and ask what happened to the "10 days"?

Hi VJ friends!

Have a question, need input....

My fiance ( from Algeria ) has been undergoing AP for almost 13 months. On June 24th, we received an email from DZ stating that they were getting ready to make a decision on our case within 10 days..

This is what it said:

To:
Sent: Monday, June 24, 2013 4:46 PM
Subject: RE

Dear Madam,

We acknowledge the reception of your email. ALL your messages has been received and forwarded to the appropriate unit. According to our record, the case is still under administrative process. A decision will be made regarding the case within 10 days.

It has been almost 3 weeks since receipt of email and have heard nothing yet. Would it be wise to write them an e-mail asking why is it taking so long for a decision to be made? I am wondering, since I have read here that it isn't a very good idea to write emails since it will only create a delay on your case? Correct me if I am wrong please.

I am so sorry this is taking so long. I hope you will hear good news very soon. Personally, I would email them, or call them, but then... patience is not a virtue of mine. Keep me posted

Emailing does not slow down your case. I would email them or call.

Since they made a specific point to tell you they received ALL your emails, I would still wait a bit more rather then risk irritating them. When we were told 10 days for information from them it took 3 weeks. Sometimes patience pays off.
