Having been in the jury, means they took a quick vote, then convinced the the lone hold-out, and sat there just long enough that it would seem like they deliberated. In our case, the defendant was found guilty of all charges. It took about 20 minutes, and we sat there talking about anything but the trial for another 40 minutes before filling out the verdict form.

What kind of trial did you do?

I was in a jury all the way to verdict once, civil trial, injury from a car accident. Really lame stuff but the jurors were interesting people and that was a fun conversation. We talked about how much damages should be, agreed on a very small number.

Criminal trial - possession of meth, possession of meth for sale, being under the influence of meth. Good defense attorney, lousy prosecutor, but the evidence was obvious. The defendant admitted to possession, but only for personal use.

LOL - That sounds familiar. My jury experience was very much like that. Clear cut case in the mind of the 12 people in that room. It was an aggravated assault charge.

In our case, half the jury wanted to give the injured guy a ton of money and a few very opinionated people wanted to give him nothing. We ended up awarding him a very small amount. In New Jersey they aren't allowed to ask for an amount so the injured guys lawyer told us how many days of earnings he has lost and will lose and how much he should make per day and told us to do the math. The math was in the millions. Giving him about 10,000 was my idea and some recoiled at it but eventually we got compromise in the 50k range.

I wonder if the 6 women are sitting around and talking about the coldest place they ever lived while the foremen is filling out the verdict sheet?

Or they could be discussing what publisher they have in mind for their upcoming tell all book?

To be a fly on the wall...

I'm sure the NSA has that room wired. ;)

Two different Canadians told me they were watching sharknado last night so I assume all Candians love sharknado.

Yes, my wife has it on VHS, DVD and Blu-ray.

What does that say about George's prospects?

GZ is no Trevor Dooley.
