(CNN) -- The George Zimmerman investigation was hijacked "in a number of ways" by outside forces, said the former police chief of Sanford, Florida

Bill Lee, who testified Monday in Zimmerman's second-degree murder trial, told CNN's George Howell in an exclusive interview that he felt pressure from city officials to arrest Zimmerman to placate the public rather than as a matter of justice.

"It was (relayed) to me that they just wanted an arrest. They didn't care if it got dismissed later," he said. "You don't do that."

who was arguing that?

I am not going to dig thru older post nor am I going to name Names.

There were plenty of argument put up by ppl who supported TM that there was no involvment from center and there was no pressure, cops were doing their job.

In last 2 days both were proven DOJ involvment and Lee coming out and telling his side of story now.

To sum up there was no case, this case was just made up to instigate ppl based on race.

I don't think anyone did not know this, although several on here tried to deny Obama put the full force of the JD behind forcing a case.

Ill intent was in the audio tapes, how was that not grounds at least for a charge? Rarely do we ever get a persons inner thoughts on tape before a homicide and when we do...it's no big deal? Sounds like he dislikes those people that get away pretty much to me.

Come on, the investigation was a mess. That's why he was fired.

If a black man shot a white 17 yo kid with the same audio as evidence you mean he'd not even be charged? Really? I mean please.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Investigation was done like any other investigation, if u read the article he just said in nicer words the city manager fired him as he needed a scape goat and it was based on the race.

Dude.... there was a similar case at same time where it was exactly the same way white person was shot by black person and the guy walked away no charge.

Media did not make noise about it nor white house made any noise.... parents of that person tried and tried nothing happened.

This case was more for political agenda rather than justice.

Actually if you are talking about the Dooley case, he was arrested and sentenced to 8 years.

He was charged but only after there was a public outcry - although locally only - for his not being arrested for his crime. Didn't take as large a protest and as long a time as it did in the Zimmermann case. Dooley was arrested and charged within 48 hours. And Dooley had a better self defense case than Zimmermann could ever even dream of having.

TAMPA — After two days of public outcry, Hillsborough County deputies arrested a 69-year-old man Tuesday on a manslaughter charge in the fatal shooting of an Air Force veteran on a Valrico basketball court.
