Eliot Spitzer is running for NYC Comptroller. Maybe he can produce a scandal of some sort.

I don't think republicans and their gay lovers are even considered scandals any longer, so that's out.

Gay Republicans use to be so fun to admonish. Now they are so mainstream.

Soon the Republican's will have to find a new wedge issue like a bill that classifies masturbation as male abortion.

Soon half the country will be in jail...great.

How are they gonna stop people from masturbaiting in jail? That's pretty much all there is to do there.

Give them more time...isn't that always the standard answer?

Soon the country will be in the hole.

Nothing in the prosecution's case establishes beyond a reasonable doubt that GZ started the fight. It doesn't matter what GZ did before that because none of it was illegal. Being creepy as fukc isn't illegal. Being an interfering azzhole isn't illegal. Thinking you're Rambo isn't illegal.

Nothing in the prosecution's case establishes beyond a reasonable doubt that TM couldn't have started the fight. Nothing in the prosecution's case established beyond a reasonable doubt that GZ was not fearful for his life.

There's just no case here.

Imagine two people's paths cross in the middle of the night - no witnesses around. They have an argument that ends in a scuffle. One guy is armed and the other is not. The armed guy shoots and kills the unarmed guy. Since there are no witnesses, you are basically arguing that the shooter cannot be convicted. That isn't consistent with how others have been tried and found guilty. Sure, a lot of the evidence is circumstantial, but that doesn't make the case any less valid. With all things being equal and knowing what the two parties were doing, saying, thinking, before the altercation, there is one who was clearly the aggressor and one that was trying to get away. Like I've stated before, GZ's phone call to the police will be the clincher for the jury, IMO. He's not going to walk away from this with a full acquittal.

Ah ha...but in a fight where there is mutual combat then the person using the deadly force is guilty...if that deadly force is him using a firearm that is. That was a part of the jury's instructions.

Since nobody knows how the fight started and testimony was given that each person started the fight, then it's mutual responsibility...like a bar fight.

You're losing me on the last part. I don't see it as so clear who was trying to get away. I understand your argument for who is the aggresser, though again, not so clear really, but as for who was trying to get away..not so much.

To me, it hinges on that 911 call, because when you hear the screaming, it certainly sounds like whoever is screaming is actually in fear for their life, and frankly, I cannot reconcile the scenario in which Treyvon Martin is the guy screaming.

This is the part of the prosecutions closing argument that doesn't work for me. I believe at one point he held up the gun and then a bottle of red bull or something and said "which of these two would make someone cry in fear"? But that is why I think it was Zimmerman screaming. The screaming went on for quite some time. I can't believe that its TM screaming for all that time because a gun is pointed at his chest and #1, Zimmerman lets it go on with the whole neighborhood listening, and #2 from what I can hear he never says "don't shoot". Remember also that John Good testifies that he saw the scuffle and one of the two said something to him, and Zimmerman also said he asked for help from one of the witnesses. We gotta assume this is when Good hears the screaming, and even if we assume he doesn't really know who is screaming or who is on top, we know one other thing-- Zimmerman doesn't know what he sees either. So, here you are now with knowledge that someone can see the two of you fighting, and if you are on top you gotta believe there is at least a good chance the witness can see that, and you are going to shoot someone laying on the ground while you have them pinned? That makes no sense. Therefore, I believe it was indeed Zimmerman screaming for help, and like I said, the person screaming for help sure sounds like he is in fear for his life, so that is reasonable doubt.

I did. Reading it again, it's not appropriate. You're right. I'll take it out.

Mr. Big Dog: Yes but there is lack of colored targets up there, I hear.

What you REALLY deserve is to be personally and professionally crucified for that remark the way you and your fellow libs crucify others. What is it about you that makes you feel you are entitled to the right to talk like that and just say "never mind I take it back" and move on?

I don't think you can crucify anyone with out the personal aspect...just saying.
