Yeah. Following someone isn't a crime and no one knows who started the fight. Copious amounts of reasonable doubt. No way around it.

The only reasonable doubt is that GZ was not telling the truth about the altercation. It's not just getting out of his vehicle and following TM, it was his call to police, what he said (profiling of TM), then being told not to follow and saying 'ok', but pursuing TM anyway, then denying he did. It's about him carrying a gun that he said he forgot he had and shooting an unarmed teenager who up until that altercation, had done nothing wrong except try to get away from the creep who was following him. It's about the phone conversation between TM and Rachel that indicates TM was afraid and that GZ was the aggressor. It's about GZ not identifying himself to TM. It's about GZ saying he had to shoot TM because his mouth and nose were being covered, he was suffocating, but yelling at the same time (allegedly). It's the lack of forensic evidence that supports GZ's story that he was being pummeled, or that he head was being bashed repeatedly against concrete. It's about all the eye witness testimonies that conflict any of GZ's claims.

No, we will never know what happened that led up to the shooting, but taking that all into context and I see a strong case for manslaughter.

Nothing in the prosecution's case establishes beyond a reasonable doubt that GZ started the fight. It doesn't matter what GZ did before that because none of it was illegal. Being creepy as fukc isn't illegal. Being an interfering azzhole isn't illegal. Thinking you're Rambo isn't illegal.
