Don't believe everything you find on the internet. I'm pretty sure there are some people, even here on VJ, that are not absolutely honest about their own timelines. Use this forum as more of an information source more so than a tool to predict processing times. The latter will only work if everyone contribute by updating their timelines and also being honest about it.

Thanks vegasbound. I am just anxious and want my husband to be here.(I know everyone here wants that too).

My husband took his oath today and is now a USC! I travelled to NY in order to share that moment with him.

We just got off the phone with customer service at USCIS and the petition has been upgraded from F-2A to CR-1 We should get a confirmation by mail soon. And the wait continues

Don't believe everything you find on the internet. I'm pretty sure there are some people, even here on VJ, that are not absolutely honest about their own timelines. Use this forum as more of an information source more so than a tool to predict processing times. The latter will only work if everyone contribute by updating their timelines and also being honest about it.

Even if everyone is absolutely honest about their own timelines and fill them up, I still believe that you can't predict accurate timings.

In my opinion, statistics such as on this topic are more accurate than the "timelines" statistics / predictions because things are more transparent here. For timelines, let's say there are a few people who expedite their requests and their cases are approved within days, it will change the overall predictions to lesser days. Same way with USC filing from abroad where their cases are approved much quicker. On the other hand, if there are a few people who get RFE(s) and it takes them a few months to gather all the documents and respond to it, it will change everyone's prediction date to be longer.

That's why I like the statistics like on this topic where things are a lot more transparent than the "timelines"' predictions.

When did USCIS receive it?

Hmm, I didn't pay for courier so no tracking. I just sent it regular post (USPS from Washington state) so I don't know how long it took. But if they have their I-797 dated Aug 1, then I'm guessing it took 2-3 days to get to Chicago Lockbox and then 1-2 days for them to acknowledge it?

ie.

package sent from WA on Mon, Jul 29

I-797 letter "PRIORITY date" = Thurs, Aug 1

I-797 letter "NOTICE date" = Fri, Aug 2

Email acknowledgment received = Sun, Aug 4

i-797 hardcopy letter actually received in Canada = Mon, Aug 12

We got an e-mail this morning from VSC confirming that they updated the petition and it's now in the new visa category of immediate relative of a USC.

So now, the wait really begins

My husband received the NOA1. I see one a lot of your timelines that there is a priority date. I don't think we have that. Does anyone know what criteria makes you eligible for priority. I have a lawyer who is handling our application.

There should be a priority date in your NOA1. There is nothing special about getting it. Technically it's the either the date they received it or few days after it.

Just got a text from USCIS regarding my expedite request. Checked online and it showed that my case was approved yesterday. Yayyy...
