Somehow my last comment didnt quote! Congrats from another gringa married to a chilean smile.png Do you have children together? If so, the embassy told me last week that you can apply for an expedite through the NVC process, essentially sending the case directly to the embassy!

Is this true for all petitioners?

To be honest, I am not sure. I was told that the US embassy in Chile has very little backlog and so they are able to take cases such as mine to rush the process... Maybe take a trip to the US embassy in Mexico and ask?

Woohoo!!!! Just got this email message:

Application Type: I130 , IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

Your Case Status: Post Decision Activity

On January 8, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Our receipt date was July 9, so that is just about 6 months exactly.

YAYYYYYYYY!!!

My husband is in Chile, and was planning to come here in about a month on a tourist visa (yes, while his application was still pending, because he hasn't seen me and the kids in 4 months).

Does anyone know how long post decision activity takes? The Chilean consulate is fairly efficient. If he does come on the tourist visa, can he just stay here and do the interview here?

Thanks!

Felicidades gringa! tongue.png

Thanks to all for your kind words. What a crazy process. Yes we have 2 children together, and my husband is talking to his contacts in the consulate (he works in a Chilean government ministry, so knows people there) to find out if an expedite is possible.

One word of advice to all: my husband got his green card for the first time in 1993, and we lived in the US for 13 years, during which time he didn't become a US citizen (at first it wasn't possible because he would have had to renounce his Chilean citizenship, and then later he just didn't get around to it). Then we moved to Chile and because we were there for 7 years, he had to give up his green card, and we thought it was no big deal because it was fairly quick to get it the first time. BIG MISTAKE. especially if you have children.

I wanted to share some info that might be helpful for those who are being transferred to NSC (or any other center for that matter).

Here is a list of recent approvals for those members who have filled out their timeline correctly by updating that they have been transferred to the NSC:

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list.php?op6=All&op66=Nebraska+Service+Center&op7=All&dfile=No&op1=i&op2=d&op3=5&op4=1&op5=5%2C6%2C8%2C10%2C11%2C13%2C14%2C15%2C16%2C17%2C18%2C20%2C21%2C22%2C25%2C26%2C27%2C28%2C108%2C110%2C111%2C208%2C210%2C211&cfl=0

You will see that there are 12 approvals for the month of January (while there have only been 8 for the CSC).

You can play with the filters to study the information that is available on VJ and more or less gather a trend of what is going on. What you should find is that for the most part, the NSC is currently approving March and early April petitions. Sometimes you may see an approval for after April, but upon careful study of those particular petitions, you will normally find that those cases are expedited. Another good bit of info is to see how many petitions are being transferred to the NSC by month via this thread:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/470656-monthly-transfer-spreadsheets-in-order/

With that, you can make a better educated guess of when they'll start approving July petitions.

What I had noticed for the CSC was that for the months of May and June, there were not a lot of petitions transferred to the CSC compared to what was transferred to the NSC. Thus, when I noticed that the CSC was approving end of April petitions, it meant that July petitions were close to being next (which is why we're seeing some July petitions approved from the CSC). Unfortunately, for some reason NSC has been getting most of the transfers in May and June, so July petitions at the NSC will be waiting longer, but NOT because NSC is slow. There are just more petitions "in the way" of those of us who filed in July.

I hope this helps paint a picture of what seems to be going on in the background, and sets some ease for those who are anxiously waiting.
