Well, folks, my interest in trying to organize and put pressure on the gov't has waned, although I am still disappointed with USCIS administration. I doubt that it will be effective, even if many of us sign a petition. I will try to be in touch with AILA, and maybe they can exert some pressure.

I went to my local USCIS field office this past Wednesday. Very nice people, every time I have gone there. I explained what we have figured out about our I-130s and the new NBC facility at Overland Park, KS, and asked if his office had a way to pull my application from the new NBC facility and adjudicate it here. He listened but gently suggested that I wait. He noted that I only filed in July. If processing times extend beyond reason, he said, come back and we'll talk.

I acknowledged his point, that I have not waited long so far, but said that I am trying to avoid a train wreck before it happens. His position was the same, just wait, and he said that what I have learned from others' timelines and comments here is not reliable data, from which we can make credible predictions.

Well, okay. So, my wife and I have made a plan. She can visit here for 90 days on the visa waiver program, so she'll come here soon for 90 days, go back to her country for 30-45 days, then come back here for another 90 days. Hopefully, she'll only have to do this once or twice before we get the NOA2, and race through the NVC process.

She'll bring all of here important documents so that if we get the NOA2 while she's here, we can expedite the NVC process quickly, get her file sent to the US embassy in her country, and set up the interview. She'll go back for the interview, then finally move here for good.

This will be inconvenient for her, but at least we will be together, and then the process can roll along, for as long as it will roll along. Waiting for the process to end will be less difficult.

My next step is to round up the documents in preparation for the NVC process to begin, whenever that is.

Question: Does anybody know whether a beneficiary of an I-130 can have her final interview in the US while visiting the US, rather than at the US embassy or US consulate in beneficiary's home country? It would be nice if she did not have to fly back to her country to have her final interview with the US embassy there, if she is already here on a 90-day visit. If she interviews here in the US, and is approved, then she could just stay and take up residency.

Best wishes to you all.

Umm, but how would she then do the PoE interview part?.. I don't know how it would work, so just wondering.

I'm the beneficiary.

Hi Alaskafan,

My husband and I have given a thought to the same thing as I can visit on the visa waiver program. I'm thinking of going in Jan 2014 for about 3 months and seeing how that may work out. If it does, I'll come back to Canada and just shack up in a hotel for a few days and go back or hopefully have the interview by then. I probably have to quit my job to do this but I'm just really tired of being long distance at this point. Our priority date is Jul 22 and I'm hoping the July filers have it sorted by Feb or March...does anyone have any thoughts as to when we can see this all going through.

Does anyone have any thoughts on not having a job when you're waiting. My husband would be financially supporting me if I quit my job to go stay there for 3 months.

Thanks all!

Well, folks, my interest in trying to organize and put pressure on the gov't has waned, although I am still disappointed with USCIS administration. I doubt that it will be effective, even if many of us sign a petition. I will try to be in touch with AILA, and maybe they can exert some pressure.

Search for NBC AILA. There is a pdf document regarding a conference call. B & G is correct in his/her analysis. It's all gathering dust in Kansas. I am afraid if they will start working on new ones they get and all previous files in May-Aug will get dumped to a corner.

Does this mean once the Division 8 office in Overland Park, KS is operational they will start processing May petitions? I am a May filer with priority date of May 25, 2013.

Alaskafan mentioned it in the previous page of this very thread, and i quote "It also appears, based on the notes of conference between the AILA (http://www.aila.org/) and USCIS, that the Overland Park facility will not be operational until the end of September, if they hit their target."

Does it really matter? It takes them 6-8 months to approve NOA2, god only knows how long they will take to get the new service center going

Just trying to keep facts straight. We've got so few of them to work with, why not? Kansas will be "going" by the end of this month per the May 2013 AILA meeting notes.
