They started transferring august filers already. Soon we will start seeing them getting approved while we and you wait in Nebraska service center

Dude honestly - as an august filer who is just sitting here waiting - I would GLADLY take Nebraska. no joke.

The worst thing that can happen is that we can be stuck at the NBC with a file that has not been transferred.

Hooray, more approvals! Congratulations to you all. :)

In preparation for the next step, I've been trying to get everything for the NVC stage gathered so I'm not scrambling around at the last minute when the time comes. I've officially changed my name on my driver's license, and soon to be on my passport also - seems so weird, though in a good way!

I'm feeling positive things coming all of our way soon!

Transferred on Jan 22,2014. When we should expect these sacred messages-the third mail and the hardcopy?

Keep an eye out tomorrow and Monday, hopefully it won't be much later than that. USPS can send a letter cross country within 5 or 6 days pretty reliably so that should be the upper limit to it.

Thank you, I dont have the third e-mail yet. Is it normal? And you receive the hard copy 5-6 days after the third e-mail? or after the first one?

Don't stress about the third electronic notice. Some people never receive a third, some people randomly receive a fourth. For me personally, I received my first two transfer notices within 12 hours of each other, and the third notice arrived almost a week later on the same day I received the hard copy. Your hard copy is sent on the day of your first notice, so that's the one that matters.

No, it seems that it doesn't. The emails have not been updated since the transfer protocol changed.

It seems like the consensus is that the actual meanings (regardless of wording) are as follows:

Email 1: Somebody at NBC has scanned your file to designate it as a transfer. Probably where it has actually gone is to the NBC inter-office mailroom.

Email 2: Somebody in the mailroom of (probably) NBC has scanned your file and put it on a truck. Probably it is actually in transit to whereever (CSC, NSC, VSC or TSC) it's going.

Email 3: Somebody in the mailroom of (CSC, NSC, VSC or TSC- Where ever it went) has scanned your file to accept it. It is probably in the mailroom of that service center. (Or it might go directly to whatever room they put the boxes before the agents take them to process.)

Sometimes there's a fourth email. Maybe that one is the file being scanned out of the mailroom and into the box room.

Of course it's all completely mysterious, but it makes sense to me that whenever anything happens to your file, it is scanned, and these emails are sent out automatically based on the scan.

The whole "Your Local Office" thing is a remnant of a bygone day when (it seems) every local office processed all types of visas. At some point USCIS decided that that was "inefficient" (sweet, sweet irony there!) and are trying to streamline it so that each office only processes a couple of visas, presumably getting quicker/better at it. (again, apparently this plan hasn't worked exactly the way they'd hoped)

They just haven't changed the wording of the emails.

Hello,

Thank you for your post about the 3 transfer notices.

I was transferred 2 days ago (22 January 2014). I checked "my case status" and found the notice.

Could you please let me know when I should expect the 2nd and 3rd notices.

Does USCIS sends 3 emails to the sponsor?

Thank you,

Lukiduki

Hi! I looked at a ton of receipt numbers close to mine today (I know, they don't tell much if anything., but doing so occupied my mind for a while!).Three cases, that we're approved on 1/15/2014 and filed probably around July 24-25 were sent to the Department of State today for visa processing. What does that mean?

It means they've been sent to the NVC -- not that they've been received or a case number has been assigned, just that USCIS has shipped them out.

Just a question here...according to processing timeframes for I-130, why is it that permanent residents filing for a spouse is at 5 months, but US citizens filing for spouse is only at March 2013. Seems odd to me. Why aren't they the same? They should be. Is it because more Citizens are filing than permanent residents? If that is the case, I'm just curious as to how many of the recent transfers and approvals are for permanent residents versus citizens?

There are more USCs filing, yes. There is no limit to the number of visas issued per year for immediate relatives of US citizens, but relatives of permanent residents fall under what's called a preference category, which means a limited number are allowed per year and they have to wait for a visa to become available. Their petitions are currently being processed more quickly, but the overall process to obtain a visa will take longer.
