Hi to all. I just found this forum today, I've been reading every single post for the past 3 hours. I am an i-130 July filer. Priority date July 29. A lawyer helped me file and send everything and I have my MSC case number already. I checked my status and it's on "Initial Review"

I've only received one mail since I've send the package (receipt of 420 fee and msc number)

Is this normal?

I feel devastated, in agony. I can never sleep well :( I miss my husband terribly.

About the lawyer who helped, sometimes I feel like he did something wrong? Or we didn't send some kind of important information? Like a sponsor, I don't have one, is it necessary? Is it required?

If I have a case number, does this mean everything was done right?

What should I do next? I read somewhere here that there was a why to speed the process. What will they ask me for next? I'm so afraid :(

Hi! :) im not a July filer but thought i could share some info..

Yes, dont worry bout receiving only one mail, thats normal. That letter is your NOA1 or your receipt.

The petitioner and the sponsor are one. So it's your husband. However if his income is insufficient, then he needs a co-sponsor.

Case number doesnt guarantee that everything was done right. It's like your receipt number, you will use that to check on the status of your case.

What u should do next..hmm.. Just sit back and wait hehe coz theres a backlog of i-130 petitions right now. They are currently working on feb/march/april filers. Or u can also read in advance about the NVC stage.

Just relax for now. If uscis needs more info or documents from you, u will get an RFE (request for evidence) from them.

Good morning,

I am a July Filer and so far I only received one mail also.

The waiting just started. We are looking into February or March 2014 before we are approved unless a miracle happens.

The fact that you used a lawyer further assures you that there are no mistakes or errors on your filing.

Hang in there and be patient, we will all get there a some point!

it sounds like NBC started transferring petitions for April now. I've seen couple posts about April 1st PD transferred today to Nebraska and Texas.

Hang in there guys, it is moving. May be not as fast as we want it to be, but at lease we can see progress now!

Good luck to all of us!!!

It sure does for those of us who are going through consular processing. Once the I-130 is approved the immigration process is not finished. You are simply going onto the next stage which is NVC.

It's at NVC where your visa application will be submitted and processed and once everything checks out it's only then they will provide you with the appointment at the embassy.

So it's a good idea to read up on the NVC stage/process and get the required documents ready so once the I-130 is approved you don't delay in submitted the required forms/documents.
