I actually have a mid-atlantic accent from all the years of living in the UK -- people sometimes think I'm Irish on the phone

When I'm back the D, all the hard consonants and nasal vowels come out though

"North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot.

Okay, this is real weird. I'm a born Texan (and I've never lived anywhere but Texas), yet according to this quiz, I have a Boston accent.

I got "the west", where nobody thinks you have an accent. But I probably should have been scored as a "midland" accent. I grew up in rural Illinois farm country, but when I went to college, most of my classmates were from Chicago suburbs. I thought they sounded funny, while they thought likewise of me. To be less conspicuous, I consciously tried to imitate them, and ended up with an accent about halfway between theirs and my original one.

I learned something funny in the process. If you try and imitate the really strange-sounding features of someone's accent, even though it sounds so unnatural to your ear, the people you're imitating won't notice you're putting on an act.

It says I have a Southern accent. Philadelphian's sound southern??? I thikn we talk out of our noses...except for those strong South Philly accents, they sound like "Rocky" it's true I swear
