If you've been waiting 5+ months and were recently transferred to TSC, you may want to read about our situation. I have not come across this topic yet.

  • Mon 7/8 - I received an email status update stating that the alien registration number was changed.
  • Mon 7/8 - I called USCIS, and 2nd tier support indicated it means nothing...it's a glitch in their system.
  • Wed 7/10 - I called USCIS, and 2nd tier support said their system indicates that the petition was approved on Mon 7/8. He added that I should receive written correspondence by mail soon.

What's the point of signing up for email notification? What's the point of registering to their website if it does not reflect an update from 2 days ago?

Meanwhile, I have received useless updates about:

  • Transferring our petition, but not telling us where
  • Transferring it to a local office, but not which one
  • Transferring to TSC, but how is Texas local to New Jersery?
  • Transferring it to a USCIS office...really? Where else would they send it? DMV? IRS?

I am somewhat encouraged with the 2nd tier verbal approval, but I prefer to see the email update or the online update. Has any else experienced this?

If you've waited 5+ months and have 2+ hours to spare, you want to check with USCIS 2nd tier support. Please report back.

March & April filers were transferred out of VSC, likely to TSC, so it's likely that they are approving a lot of cases that have been there for a while. A Tier 2 IO has access to your case and all the case documents. If you're not sure of how correct they are you can call again in a couple hours.

The electronic notification system is limited. The notifications are generic and will not contain any sensitive (confidential) case-related information. This is to ensure security as people's emails & phones can be compromised.

If you didn't receive an email, I would double check your account settings on the USCIS website, and your spam settings on the email account the mail is being sent to.

different petition type for me, but I never got email notifications and the website was never available for me. your local office transfer was actually the file going to texas .. the k1's never go to local offices

I would bet you did get approved if the IO stated it

you don't have to wait on the phone for the IO .. once your transferred you leave your call back number and don't lose your place in line

Given that a computer glitch can mean anything, I would call them and ask for 2nd tier support.

In fact, I now wonder if a "computer glitch" gave erroneous information to 2nd tier support on Wed 7/10 when he said I was approved on Mon 7/8.

I am on hold now with 2nd tier support to double-check and ask, "Are you sure? How do you really know?"

2nd tier support confirmed that her system indicates I was approved with no emotion at all...no congratulations. She put in a request for TSC to send me the approval notification. I cannot believe the actual approval does not trigger a communications to us.

I can't believe how long it's taken just to get approved. I'm not even sure what I'm approved for given the number of hurdles that remain.

Congrats to trafalgar_law! I wonder how many others were approved, but don't know yet.

Okay, no I received a text stating that my case was updated. The text instructs me to check my status on USCIS, but there's no update.

I feel like Charlie Brown running to kick the football only to have Lucy pull it away at the last moment.
