I highlighted this in another thread, James Holms and Adam Lanza are more respected that TM.

Sorry Marvin, but that statement is as stupid here as it was there. I know there's unreasonable judgments about TM here based on race. Frankly, those people sound about as dumb as this statement. You are using an extreme statement to make a point which is what the other side does. I'm sorry about the prejudice you have/will face, but no thinking individual respects either of those two. Stop thinking the extreme point of views on here represent the vast majority, because they don't. P&R is a place where likely biased people come to voice their biased thoughts and is not a good cross section of VJ or America for that matter. If you listen to the loud right and the loud left only, you miss the vast amount of points of view.

There's no use taking anyone like that seriously. GZ was not "taking out the trash", no matter what people try to make you believe.

What a sick mentality.

It's called lesser included charges. Manslaughter is an included charge in a murder case.

Maybe I'd understand better if I were watching it. From what I read, the defense seems shocked that it's even a possibility.

Yes the freaks who say ish like "he was a thug and he needed killing" are not representative of any wide swath of this country. They represent only themselves and their own battle with mental illness.

Same with nuts who say he was hunted down and killed because he was black.

Of course they are. They would obviously like for murder 2 to be the only charge to be on the table. That would all but guarantee their client to walk.

It does make sense to be able to convict someone on the elements of a larger charge if some of those elements were proven true but not all.

That is theater for the jury.

That went on in front of the Jury?

i don't think it's stupid. it's about popular culture and basic stereotypes more than it is a particular person 'respecting' a killer. important to understand that - overall - white mass killers like lanza and holmes receive cult status from the media. anyone with eyes and cable tv knows this is true. if gz had been black - and killed a white kid, he would most certainly have been villified first and foremost by the media. there would be none of this 'responsible gun owner' or ' neighborhood watchman just trying to do the right thing'. we would be comparing gz to various rappers and further justifying white america's fear of black men on every media outlet.

and of course, if gz had been black and tm was still his victim - we wouldn't care about any of it in the slightest.

Yeah, no long and sad history of that in the United States, is there? laughing.gif

So I guess in every single killing if the suspect is white, and the victim is black, we need to always assume the victim was killed because of his race, due to $hit that happened years ago and is totally unrelated. Makes sense. More special treatment for people that want to be treated equally.
