I emailed the congressman of our district who happen to be a republican and not too supportive of immigration. I have even send the authorization form and did a follow up with another email via the congressman website contact form. So far nothing from him or his staff, not even an acknowledgment email of my request.

This is really not encouraging. The problem is I cannot even contact other congressmen because they do only handle cases of their constituents belonging to their district. The senators of the state are both republicans and have the same stands on immigration and foreigners in general. I am not sure what I can do in this situation and to whom I can refer my case to? And how does contacting my congressman help,..?

The USCIS is an independent agency, not even the president of the US could help,...

well., just give it a try ?

there were just so many COINCIDENCES that few days after contacting congressman., they ( including me ) got our APPROVAL..

it could be and it could not be because of the Congressman., but got nothing to lose if you do.. ?

Just an update. Last Wednesday, I sent a mail to my congressman requesting an assistance to follow-up my pending case at VSC. On Thursday, the case worker at congressman's office called me and confirm the receipt of my letter. Just now, Monday, I got a text message and email that both my application (spouse/daughter) are now approved :). Not sure if this is just a co-incidence or requesting an assistance from the congressman really helped. PD is July 9, 2012 @ VSC.

Has anyone else got any responses from the congressmen they contacted and gotten their NOA2 after that? Please update us as it will be very helpful.. Thank you in advance

We contacted our congressman to inquire my sister in-law petition in USCIS because two of her younger brothers and her father petitions were approved and hers was not. That week after we contacted the congressman, her file was looked up and they issued her the RFE. We responded to the RFE and after 7 working business days, her I-130 was approved the same day - again, after we contacted our congressman office to follow up. I don't really know if it was a coincidence, but I believe that contacting the congressman to inquire your case will help a little bit. Although congressman can't force USCIS to approve your case but at least they will look a it and could lead to approval or RFE.

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

This happened to us before, we contacted other congressman in our district but we were told that they are willing to help but I was told that it's been a long custom of the representative to represent their constituents within their district and they gave us the name of the congressman in our area who can help us. We were glad because the person that we asked for help in our congressman's office was very helpful. He explains everything in the email about the visa categories and he said that he will send an inquiry to USCIS and USCIS is required to response within 7 to 15 days after the inquiry. After we contacted our congressman, USCIS looked up my in-law files and they issued an RFE. We responded to the RFE and on 7 working business days, we received the approval. To tell you this, but on the same day (morning) we contacted our congressman's office again to follow-up and he said that he will inquire about it and on that late evening 7:30 pm we received an email for approval.

I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Thank you for the update on your case. I have contacted the congressman already and they did send out a request to USCIS about my case. I am going to hold my breath and wait to see what response they get.

The reason this is frustrating (and while I am happy for those who are getting approvals) is that cases in California Service center are getting approvals even when they filed in June 2013 but cases in Vermont have been gathering dust. Our case was recently transferred to Nebraska and the phone automated message says that not to contact them before 6 months which is why I went ahead and emailed my congressman to look into the case.

Cross your fingers! Your frustration will end very soon.
