ah.. no.. I'm one of the 'english is not my native language' and 'I don't care for forum grammar and or spelling'.. and there's nothing wrong with arseholes either.. learn some different words yo

What the hell are you doing GRADING English papers!! This is a prime example of a teacher (your wife) not doing the job that she is paid for! No wonder the kids are not willing to put in any effort, when their teacer isn't!

LOL

you better stfu about my wife's capability as a teacher, she works 50+ hours and even gives special chances to their dumb kids when they forget homeworks.. and before you start being a judgemental prikc, I help her with multiple choice questions, which doesn't need my skill whatsoever, just to follow the key.. and btw, many teachers get help from their so's when this happens...

so if u wanna be a jerk with ur uber-english zomgwtf.. fine, but don't mess with my wife capabilities or skills..

Girona, with all due respect you might want to lay off on teachers until your daughter becomes a full-time teacher in a real classroom herself and has to really deal with the discipline problems, is threatened with violence, deals with demanding parents (at some point, one will probably threaten to sue her for giving little billy a deserved C), is forced to become a social worker (counselling pregnant teenagers and reporting domestic abuse is never fun) deals the administration politics and the hours and hours of paperwork and inservice. All for much less than other careers which require a master's degree.

yeap.. calls at 11pm from one of her kids who got beaten, pregnant, their mother forgot to pay the bills and they have no gas... mhh work 50-60 hour and just get paid for 40 (and very low, specially in this state), dumb parents arguing why their kids who did jack the whole year are failing

I didn't say that my daughter is intending to become a teacher - although this may be the career path she follows. Who knows? I simply said that she was in the throws of an Education degree. She is still ony 18 and may well decide to change her major at some point, or she may not.

I have a lot of respect for many teachers, not all, but many. Pedroh pointed out that he was grading papers for his wife and I don't feel that, whether they are multiple choice or otherwise, that is his job. If she is allowing someone else to grade the papers, how does she know where a particular child is deficient in a particular area of that subject? She may well hand the paper to Johnny and say "Johnny, you got a D in that test", but unless she has gone through the paper herself and seen where he is not understanding something, how is she to actually educate that child? Even a child that gets a B grade on a paper may have missed an important point being made in the class - the teacher should be the one that marks their papers, IMO.

I am a strong believer in "leading by example" and I stand by what I said. Sorry if that offends anyone, but I have as much right to an opinion on this topic as the next man, and I don't feel the need to use profanities, whether in full or as an acronym.

Using other people to mark papers is very common for teachers - it doesn't mean they are out of touch with how the students are performing, they can still analyze the results. it's an example of delegating menial tasks (especially multiple choice tests) that you would find in many jobs so that they can apply their expertise in a more meaningful way. I don't do all the rote tasks in my job, and I'm sure you don't either but it doesn't mean I don't know what's going on.

There are bad teachers, just like in any profession, but I can guarantee you there are far more teacher that started out motivated and idealistic who got run down by all the other ####### they have to deal with.

I can understand your frustration. For the past year, I've had no id in my married name, can't get a driver's license, can't work, can't register my own car and can't drive it...I can go on and on. Luckily the bank did allow me to open an account (I told them I hadn't applied for a SSN card yet so they let me use my TIN). I was tired of having to pay about $3.00 in cross border fees everytime I used my card anywhere but at the bank of america ATM. But it's been weird, like being in limbo. I am lucky though in that most places accept my passport as id.

But you were here as a visitor, right? I'm just sayin'.. apples to apples & all.
