I like many other filers on this website filed in New York City and are currently in limbo. I can count at least 10 instances where people have been waiting anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks for a decision after the interview. This was never an issue in the past looking at past cases.

Is anyone aware of something going on here? Are they really that backed up or did they institute some sort of new procedure where each case undergoes further scrutiny after the interview before approval?

I don't have it as bad as many others as some have waited for nearly 80 days with no decision but its no fun either for me as I am sitting on day 20 of waiting for a decision, which is on top of nearly waiting 6 months just to attend the interview date.

I'm sorry you are still waiting. I don't know about New York, but there is a serious back log everywhere. No explanations.

Edit: I would be glad to have had an interview - people seem to get thier answers much faster than those who haven't had an interview.

Another NYC filer here. We had an NOA1 for our AOS on May 6th. Fortunately the EAD/AP card came this week. Our I-485 case is still in the acceptance status, not in initial processing, which is not encouraging.

I find it a bit bizarre though that in the May filers thread there are people from other parts of the US who have received interview dates already, when from what I can tell my fiance can expect several more months before even receiving a date simply because we are NYC residents. It boggles the mind that in this day and age USCIS still processes AOS applications in the applicant's local office instead of putting all applications into one queue distributed evenly around the USCIS offices of the country via some kind of network/database. Where you reside in US should not effect the processing time of the case.

Sorry to hear about your very long wait. Hope it is all over soon.

Don't worry that you case is still in the "acceptance" phase-- mine is too and we filed in November 2012. From what I have read, the status will probably not update until it is in the decision/card production phase.

Since you are a K-1 AOSer (like me) it is possible that you may not even be called for an interview. But that means the wait might be longer-- like 10 months or more.

Good luck!
