Current employment and visa process

I'm currently working and have (obviously) filled the employer info in all the proper documents.

My question is, will anyone be contacting my employer regarding my visa process? I haven't told anyone at work I'm applying for a visa, since I don't want them terminating my employment before we are moving. I will of course give them notice once I know when we are moving all according to the law.

So I guess I'm wondering if you told your employer you started a visa process or not? Should I?

No they use it to help verify who you are for background checks.
