I think it is the "willpower" thing and the thought, as someone said, it will never happen to me. But these things have a habit of creeping up on you and then it is "why didn't I do something before"

As for the drink, well I do enjoy it, wish I could stop at 2 or 3 though ;) and as for smoking, gave that up 15 years ago (said with a smug smile  )

Just wish that I was not such a lazy so and so and could keep up the promise I make just about every week that I will exercise more  but I will start it tomorrow, which never comes

CHERISH YESTERDAY, LIVE TODAY AND DREAM TOMORROW

Life is like a song... Sing it.

Life is like a challenge... Pursue it.

Life is like a sacrifice... Offer it.

Life is love... Enjoy it.

People often stick with bad habits because there isn't an immediate pay back. It's all very well to say that you have an x chance of developing x nasty disease if you don't quit/cut down etc but most people seem to think that either they aren't going to be that statistic, or that by the time it happens to them they'll be too old to care...

I agree...and the immediate staisfaction that they get from the habit acts as reward and supports the behavior while improving one's health by quitting takes a while in terms of seeing results and fails to act as reinforcement...

I VJ too much. It keeps me from more important things I should be doing.

Maybe I should just quit. I'll be back in late summer for conditions removal. Adios VJ.

That'll be the day.

I suspect you'll be back...probably when your "big heart" status is imminent. :P

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
