Which is why this case has so many people of color up in arms. If Zimmerman caused this confrontation and killed Martin because he bit off more than he could chew and he walks, it's going to be a shame.

I don't think there will be riots, people are better than that, but if he is aquitted I won't be suprised.

But on the other hand, if he didn't cause the confrontation and killed Martin because Martin decided to attack him because he didn't like being followed ... then he should be acquitted and it's a good thing he wouldn't be serving time for it.

It's tough, because there's honestly no way to know what actually happened.

This too, there is no way to be sure.

How about don't follow someone when you aren't properly trained to handle the situation and let the police do their job.

yet, doing so is not against the law, whereas jumping someone and pounding them into the ground for doing that is against the law.

Never said it was against the law, the problem is we will never know if GZ confronted TM or vice versa. We can only take the word of the person who lived.

Zimmerman is trying to say that it was self defense.

It doesn't seem like there's enough evidence to prove it wasn't.

It's like Casey Anthony, though that case actually had MORE evidence. The jury thought she killed her daughter, but there wasn't enough evidence for them to be 100% sure and she walked.

And in just that sense it is very different than the Casey Anthony trial. The jury needs no convincing that Zimmermann killed Martin. They know that for a fact. Now, it seems fairly certain that a murder 2 conviction is a long shot. Taking murder 2 off the tablem, the question for the jury to answer then is whether Zimmermann was justified in using lethal force in self defense. If the jury answers that question in the affirmative, then Zimmermann walks. If the jury belives that lethal worce was not warranted, then he will be convicted of manslaugther.

A more similar case would be the Trevor Dooley case where a physically inferior man shot and killed another in a scuffle. Trevor Dooley did not walk but was convicted of manslaughter in that case. Similar to Zimmermann, Dooley was also not arrested and charged immediately.

There is nothing new in any of this.. Want to put a possibly innocent man in prison or let a potentially guilty man go free?

You just said there is know way to be sure yet every hypothetical you float is of him being guilty. Try putting your own bias/racism to the side for a moment and make the call.

I will ask the people who have been following the trial more closely than I have - what evidence has been presented that shows TM being the person to initiate the physical attack?

There is no evidence on either side to prove who initiated the physical attack, the trial is about self defense.

The same could be said for you as well. I've pointed out the things he's done wrong, but I have also said it could have been self defense. Did you miss that, cause Ghandi caught it and reposted it.

Someone who knows the law better than me will have to answer ... can you claim self defense in an attack you initiated?

i caught it and it appears that almost all here have become reasonable , about fact. Fact can be proven, and the facts leave a reasonable doubt as to if GZ acted in self defense or not.

I don't know if the man is guilty.. No amount of hypothetical race baiting posts is going to solve that riddle.

The bad thing is, even thought I believe that GZ's actions were careless and caused TM's death, that might not be the case. I've said it on here quite a few times, if TM was in the wrong and it comes out in court or they can prove it, then so be it.
