Appointment for the interview- Phone call failed

Hi guys,

I'm new here but it would be much appreciated if I can get some help.

I will need to apply for a F-1 visa renewal in the Embassy in London.

Today I called the phone number for the interview appointment. After listening to some "official words" and

telling the operator on the phone about all the information she needed...and of course getting charged

$20 (I'm currently still in the U.S.). I was told that "there are no appointments available for F-1 at this moment" and

she refused to tell me when should I make another call to get an guaranteed appointment.

On the Embassy's website there are words tell people the approximate wait times for a interview like "Typical Wait Time (Calendar Days*) for a Nonimmigrant Visa Interview Appointment"

Apparently that information did not help me at all and it kind misled me too.

Could anyone give me some suggestions about when and how should I make another phone call in order to book an appointment?

Most people on this forum are waiting for fiance/marriage visas, so we have more specific knowledge.

However, if it helps, while I was browsing around the embassy site the other day I found their official twitter account. On it I saw they post things such as "opened up the appointment calendar through the end of July 26th" which was posted on June 25th - Maybe this means new ones will be released on July 25th, if this month's are all gone?

There also seem to be some posts going back informing of additional spots opening up for certain visa types!
