Have Packet 3/NOA2. How long can I wait to schedule interview?

Is there a time limit for how long we can wait to schedule our interview at the consulate? We had anticipated interviewing in October but we may want to interview in the spring instead. Is it possible to do this without starting over?

Interviews can usually be rescheduled, some one will come along with the info on how to do that. I believe you contact the consulate. Also, keep in mind that there is a 6 month entry window from the medical in some countries or the approval date in others (I think that's the other time-frame I've seen referenced) so that gives you some flexibility, as well

I believe, but this would need to be re-confirmed, that your case can be on file at the consulate for 1 year. I would call the embassy to confirm: 2-397-4114.

Also, like Happytobe alluded to - the medical checkup is only valid for a certain period of time (ex. received medical checkup in July, only valid for X months) so you should also keep that in mind. For that, call Yonsei Severece Hospital visa section: 2-2228-5815. They speak English but if your fiance calls it may be easier.

Just my advice - you do have 90 days after the visa is issued until it expires (if you don't travel to the US), so don't wait until the last minute. Also, the other paperwork for translation, police records, family and birth records ect. those all take quite a bit of time and effort to gather. Work on those together if you can. I made a special trip to Seoul to help my fiance and her family drive all over the place to get those documents. If you have any questions or anything feel free to message me anytime

Just realized your fiance is Canadian (I believe) so a lot of that won't apply to you. Anyway, bottom line, call the embassy and have your case number ready.

When we delayed our immigration process (via the London Embassy) we were told our case files could sit dormant for up to a year from the I130s being approved and we would not even have to notify them or apply for an official extension. They said we could even apply for an additional, formal extension at the end of that year but, of course, we thankfully didn't need that long.

Thanks all! I did find that the interview has to be scheduled within a window of two years with the "clock" starting when I received the NOA-1, so I have plenty of time in that regard! We will be timing the medical check more closely though, now that I know that the visa expires 6 months after the date of the exam.
