Living your life in constant paranoia and planning for things that have a very slim(pun intended) chance of actually happening, is a waste of good energy, imo.

I was out of town over the weekend but my "plan" was similar to Gary's. Be armed just like usual. I did, however, pull my normal "trunk guns" (Draco AK-47 pistol and Para P-14 .45) out and give them a good once over including fresh lube. Nothing like watching Al Sharpton while cleaning guns!

I also had alternate routes of travel (avoiding major metro and urban areas) scoped out just in case I needed to divert. My go-bag was ready too, just in case we had to unass the Jeep and hoof it the rest of the way.

Probably the most extraordinary part of this ordeal was relating to my passenger that she'd be on the AK if stuff jumped off. Talk about a wakeup call for modern Americans. "If people mean to do us harm, your job will be to terminate them with this AK-47." Oh if I could have had a picture of her face. It took some convincing, but she understood the importance of getting mobile and clearing out of an unfriendly area.

Mental health is so neglected in this country. Are you part of a health plan? If so, psychiatric care is generally included at little or no out of pocket expense.

I didn't say it would never happen to me. I just don't live my life as if there's a threat around every corner. I don't walk around "on alert". Maybe that's naive, but it's far more enjoyable.

I don't think any regular citizen needs to be carrying around an AK-47 for defense.

It costs nothing to be "on alert" at all times. You don't have to be looking around every corner for someone to kill you but with practice and proper training you can very rapidly decrease your chances of being victimized and in the off chance you are selected, greatly increase your chances of surviving the encounter.

In most places here we don't have to be on high alert. But we should always be aware.

As for citizens with AK-47s, are you implying only government agents should have them?

Worry about driving the jeep, because death by automobile accident is thousands of times more likely than needing the AK47 to defend yourself. I'd worry about those odds.

Get a bus pass and be safe out there.

I was talking to a buddies the other day. They started talking about prepping. One or two said they put up a small supply of food etc.

They asked me If I do anything to prep.

I said yes, I make a list of all the anti-gun people I come across

I will be visiting them if survival become an issue. That is my prep plan
