London processing forms

Hi All,

Have a quick question I'm hoping someone will be able answer for me.

I initially sent off all forms related to Packet 3 (with the exception of the DS-2001 and cover letter) and it was received by the Embassy on 3rd June. I then needed to finish gathering together all supporting documentation and the Embassy didn't receive my DS-2001 and cover letter until 1st July. My question is, would the Embassy have started processing my application when they received the first set of forms or would they of waited until they received everything? I'm trying to guesstimate the wait time as I'm keen (as I'm sure everyone is) to get an interview scheduled in for as soon as possible.

My medical was 24th June and was received by the Embassy on 2nd July.

Did you put a wedding date in your cover letter? That's by far the easiest way to make sure you get an interview date ASAP. They will have processed your forms probably near to when your medical results came in, as that was the last thing they received.

I did. We put down 9th August. I hope to hear from them about it soon. I check CEAC everyday. My last update was 5th July. When I called up the DOS they stated it was in Administrative Processing.

Eh. You're unlikely to be in AP. Maybe the DOS guy misheard you and input you wrong? I'd try them again.

It might be worth trying the embassy directly. It's an expensive line (£1.23 per min) but they were able to tell me my interview date when I called.

Good idea. The guy spoke asked if it was an Immigrant or a Non Immigrant Visa. I found this peculiar as the other times I have called up (about 3 or 4), I have just given my Case Number. I even asked him if he could tell me when it was last 'touched' and he said he couldn't see that information.

I'll give them a go in a bit, as they're 5 hours behind us. If I'm not successful I may look to call that extortionate number. Or I wonder, since I have previously been assigned a number from the Embassy to email them, if that code would work now... I may try emailing them and asking.

With a cover letter date of August 9th, I'd expect you to have heard something by now (or at least by the end of this week), so it's probably worth trying both avenues just to make sure they have all your stuff.

They don't process anything really other than filing your submissions away and checking to see when all has been received. Nobody is evaluating your answers. They never RFE like USCIS does.

Administrative processing is what they call shuffling papers, and filing way your things, and waiting on scheduling. It doesnt only mean the dreaded AP where you dont get a visa until a year after the interview.

It's a holiday week and also a busy time for travel and student visas. They might not have opened your DS-2001 letter yet.

Certainly. Observation for a very long time. I've read the UK forum every day for five years except when I was without Internet due to a hurricane and when i was drugged up on morphine after a surgery :P. After a few years of reading every story and every situation imaginable, it sorta falls into place what goes on, what is important, and what isn't. Nobody has ever gotten an RFE that I know of because their forms were wrong in the 500-1000 stories that have passed through here. They are always told something is wrong in person at the interview.

People have been told administrative processing by DOS for years which is a generic "it's not your turn yet" and nothing bad happens to them. if a visa isn't received by two weeks after the interview, it's time to worry about the security check administrative processing.

I've been to a K1 interview and observed the document person assemble the forms/evidence and pass it back for the interviewer to frantically read through while you are called from the lobby when he gets to your folder. I know they do security checks after the interview because we were told "I can only tentatively tell you that you are approved because we have to do a security check and our computers are down so can't run that until they come back up."
