Judge Alex Ferrero spoke on WGN radio regarding the trial and he said the reasonable fear claim of using lethal force must pass two tests. First, the defendant must convince the jurors that he really was afraid for his life. Then, the defense must convince the jurors that the fear was reasonable or justified. He refrained from making any predictions because he said the jurors can decide whatever they want, but he did say that at first, he didn't think the state would do very well, but they have surprised him.

Not for a manslaughter conviction. The state was clever to charge murder 2, knowing that they would only get manslaughter. They made the Defense focus on murder 2, meanwhile throwing jabs.

I didn't follow the Casey Anthony case close enough to have an opinion. OJ got away with murder. Incomparable cases as GZ is not denying he killed TM. Manslaughter convictions in self defense cases are easier because the burden of proof is not as stringent.

I didn't follow the Casey Anthony case close enough to have an opinion. OJ got away with murder. Incomparable cases as GZ is not denying he killed TM. Manslaughter convictions in self defense cases are easier because the burden of proof is not as stringent.

Casey Anthony was clearly guilty, just not enough physical evidence to prove it. She got away with murder as well.

Sanford City Manager called as a hostile witness. Bad direction for the defense to take. Juries don't follow conspiracy theories.

I didn't get the feeling that the judge was favorable on allowing it into evidence. The defense was not particularly strong in their argument on this. The state killed the animation guy and nailed the argument on the issue. Same for the cell phone data. That won't make it into evidence either. The defense knows it. They were so frustrated at the end of the day it was ridiculous.

Even when prosecution failed to object on time, she allowed the objection on second day. She wanted to keep the TMs credit history thing in the trial too, which has nothing to do with incident and she was in favor or just redacting word bad on there.

I think the whole event is race based ( as the New York reporter noted), and racism needs to be stamped out. This should be a time of reflection. If both were African American the race card would be taken out of the equation and there would be little media coverage, but that does not mean GZ is not guilty of racism and bad judgement.

If both people were black, this situation wouldn't have taken place at all. Black people don't call the police because a 17 year old teenager is walking home from the store looking around. There would have to be an actual crime taking place.
