Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone can provide the best option for moving items from Ontario to Florida. I will have approximately 12 to 15 totes and do not expect to take any big items. I'm looking for the most cost effective option and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I had a small apartment of stuff and no big furniture - I used upack and got a relocube thing - it was cheaper than me uhauling my stuff from Canada.

If you move your stuff without yourself present, be prepared to do the customs form 3299.

Check out a US Penske truck rental!

I am moving from ontario to PA, and my husband is picking up a truck in bufflao. He is then driving to my place in Canada to get my things and me, and then we're picking up his car in Buffalo, which I will drive back to PA, following him in the Penske truck. We are dropping the truck at a local Penske location in PA.

We have a 3 day rental, unlimited mileage, ok to drive to Canada (no extra fees for crossing the border) and it'll come to around $350-400 after taxes.

These is the cheapest option we've found so far. If you're booking less than a month in advance though, the price jumps to over $1000.

Thank you for your response....would you mind sharing the cost you incurred or at least approximate?

I moved from BC to California, so pricing prolly different. The website has a calculator and they can email you back with an estimate - also some days are cheaper than others. I also opted to unload my cube at their site instead of them dropping it at my house, which was a short drive away.

But yeah, for me renting a truck was more than the cube - all before having to pay gas, lodging and time on the road. Ditto for my husband flying tot he border and renting a truck. I think the pricing will vary greatly how far you have to go and you need to call around.
