Fiance has been separated for 8 years but just got divorced??

Hello guys, I need some help and someone to put my nerves at rest.

I currently live in the UK and my fiance is in the US. She has been legally separated from her ex for 8 years but has only just got divorced a few days ago. We have been together now for 2 years and we are very much in love.

Will the fact that she has only just got a divorce, and we are applying for a K-1 Visa a few days later affect the decision being made about us? Even though she has been legally separated for 8 years!!!!

Please help and hopefully put my mind to rest!!

No, shouldn't matter. So long as your relationship is genuine, it's fine. People get divorced and want to remarry - that's life. It's not unusual for folks to stay married but separated for a long time, and only actually pull the trigger on the divorce when they're ready to move on legally with someone else.

As far as I know it makes no difference - we have an almost identical situation where my divorce had gone through a year and a half ago, but his only went through a week before he filed the petition for me. We did get an RFE, for which the information has now been sent back, but it was for something entirely different - nothing was mentioned about the divorce date on that. I know it's possible to get a second RFE, but so far it would seem like the divorce and petition dates being close together hasn't raised any query at all. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

I had to wait for my divorce in the UK. to be finalised. We applied as soon as I got the papers from court. Now waiting for an interview, so don't think it will be an issue.
