Um... My husband and I were discussing our trip to Morocco and my registration for classes. But we can't make any plans or buy the tickets until we have a final answer at the AOS interview. Now he heard from his friend that you can travel out of country once you got the stamp in your passport, but I was/am under the assumption that you have to have the actuall GC in your hands in order to re-enter the USA. Does anyone know about this?

Also, since they can send an RFE after you recieve the AOS interview date, can they also give an RFE at the interview and/or after the interview approval? is so, how much could this possibly delay the arrival of the GC?

You can actually re-enter the U.S. with just the I-551 stamp in your passport, unfortunately, not many offices are giving the stamp anymore because the GC is processed so quickly after the AOS interview approval.

You could possibly receive an RFE before your interview date, but once you are approved at your interview, you will not receive any further RFE's after that time.

the stamp is the same as the GC. Allthough it is only good for one year. if you do not havethe stamp and it is getting close to travel time, you could schedule an info pass appt. and bring your tickets as proof in needing the stamp. IMHO

You never know... some people waited a year for background check...
