Well I guess the NVC will not accept the hand-written ORIGINAL BC the ONLY one he has from Denmark!!..NOW WHAT??..Its what he was given

more details...who said the NVC won;t accept it? You are being very vague. And if that is the case, why can't he get a certified copy from Denmark? No one said it has to be the original birth certificate. My husband didn't submit an original, he submitted a certified copy from the civil status department in his country. Find out where in Denmark he can obtain a certified copy.

I am the US citizen and the operator told me that today 8 july the document sent is not enough..its a Original document!!..Its all Jan has from Denmark!..I just called him and he is crying as Thios is all he has!..I don't know what to do,,she said that the hand written doc is not good enough..OMG,,Ill call the NVC night and day now..I just woke him..6AM his time to tell him this, I told hiom to call the medical board in Copenhagen and ask them what to do...I cannot believe that the NVC is doing this as we are both almost 50 yrs old and going thru this

Its his Original Birth certificate of birth from the church......here in the USA all we have to do is go online and get a copy..is Denmark not the same?

First contact a supervisor at the NVC and request that they look into this. If they still say no then try this:

[if you need a copy of your Danish birth certificate, you should contact the church where your birth was registered. You can find the address of the church on the following website for all churches in Denmark
http://www.kirker.dk/

If you do not have that information, you should contact the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs in Denmark. Make sure to include all the information you have about your birth.

Kirkeministeriet
Frederikholms Kanal 21
Postboks 2123
1015 Copenhagen
DENMARK
Tel. +45 33 92 33 90
Fax +45 33 92 39 13
E-mail: km@km.dk

Because he has all this information is should be easy for him to get a new birth certificate. However I really think a Supervisor review would solve this problem.

Actually the last name thing is only for women. When men change their last names they need a new birth certificate. They're legally changing their name, they cannot just do it through marriage. That is probably why the birth certificate wasn't accepted.

In Denmark they can just do it through marriage, both men and women have their names changed on their birth certificates as far as I know. You also get a different document if you resign from the Danish church, etc. It is a very different system. When we got married they asked both of us if we wished to have our names changed.

You can just request a new birth certificate online and provide another copy of the marriage certificate and explanation of the law. It is not a huge problem.

The more important question is what is his legal name (new or old)? What names is on his passport and his official communication from the Danish government? Did you change his name in America or Denmark?

The problem I see is if he changes his name in Denmark, in the USA this isn't customarily done and the NVC may be having the issues with that. So the option of course would be to wait for the supervisor review to finish because they normally have a better idea of how things can work outside the USA vs the normal people who review cases.

Only one he has, and the correct docment are not the same thing. Have you followed the prescribed process to secure the document specified in the instructions or are you trying to push through without obtaining the correct document. You must obtain the prescribed document.

Birth Certificate

Available. Free of charge from the State Church Registrar. Birth and Baptismal Certificate (Fodsels og Daabsattest) is issued to persons baptized in a Danish State Church; Birth and Name Certificate (Fodsels og Navneattest) is issued to persons not baptized in a Danish State Church.

Name Change

Persons in possession of a Danish Social Security Number (CPR-number) can file for a name change with the Registrar of the State Church Office in his local parish. The Registrar will issue a new Birth and Baptismal/Name Certificate. All previous names are kept on file with the State Church Registrar. Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, any person may ask for release of information registered in his name by contacting the State Church Registrar in writing. State Church Registrations have been entered electronically since 2003, which makes it possible to request release of information online over your digital signature by visiting www.personregistrering.dk

What???? Does it mean in Denmark, there are no computers or even a typewriter???? How is that possible Hand written BC?????

rolleyes.gif

My American birth certificate and my British birth registration are both hand written and I was born way past the age of typewriters. It is normal for the actual original to be handwritten.
