I think the safest solution would probably be for him to leave the country as soon as possible and then file for K3.

This qualifies as perhaps the worst piece of advice given on VJ on recently.

Why on earth would you recommend someone who is in the country to leave the country? That would be the WORST possible thing to do and result in the need for a waiver. Horrible, wrong advice.

So...... you're saying, another one for the record books?

lol

(I agree)

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Live and learn. ;)

This is why forums are a good idea, one person can give bad advice, but usually you get good advice from a large collection of people. Don't take it too hard Catherina, you learned something and that's good.

For everyone else..... for the love of Pasta, don't wait until the last day to get married!!!! I mean, really....why? Is three or four days more going to tell you something about your fiancee that you don't already know? Their demonic side won't appear until the 23rd hour of the 89th day? Leave at LEAST a week for a buffer.

I totally agree and I take full responsibility. I tried 2 weeks beforehand but things kept popping up that made it impossible for me to get my license. I couldn't take time off work, and the one time I did, they wouldn't give it to me because they were closing in 20 minutes and they said it takes at least half hour to fill out (when I finally did fill it out last Wed, it literally took 5 minutes). Then they keep it for three days so I didn't get it until Monday. Then the officiant couldn't marry us Monday or Tuesday and we convinced her to marry us this morning before she went to work! (She was sooo great!!). SIGH I guess all the excuses in the world couldn't justify me doing this sooner....but I've definitely learned my lesson.

And one more thing....I'm not letting him leave to go back to his country if I have to handcuff him to my side lol

Thanks everyone for your opinions/advice. I'm definitely breathing a little easier now. And most importantly.....I'm MARRIED!!!!! Wow!

Sorry if you are offended. And it's up to each and every person to research their personal situation and make their own informed, educated decisions. But your advice, if taken, would have had a devastating, negative impact so it actually is a pretty big deal.

exactly, just remember to research your heresy before forwarding it on. somethings are small and have no affect, this could have hurt an entire relationship.

again, lesson learned.

Get an infopass appt and ask to speak to an immigration officer. Make sure they know its an innocent mistake

How do I do that?

Sigh, I was SOO on top of things during the K-1 process, I knew every rule, form, etc like the back of my hand, and I was virtually on this site everyday...correction...I was on this site everyday hehe, but with my babe here and my all consuming job, I am so back tracked it's not even funny. Hmm...so any info on infopass would be greatly appreciated :)
