This plus the education system, drugs, and a myrid of other things will drive this home. I don't blame white people for my troubles, but folks need to look at the big picture. Folks on here say we need to get rid of AA and treat everyone the same, I wish it were so.

I agree, there are many factors contributing to this. Some are able to rise above it and break the cycle while many are not. But I do live in suburbia and whites commit the majority of the crimes. And the blacks that I know and the ones that live out here are regular people. Their skin color doesn't put them in a negative light and they don't behave like or condone the stereotyped black image that is so prevalent in our cities.

Shouldn't the reason for him committing this crime be that he's Asian and that's what Asians do? Or does this type of thinking only apply to blacks?

But the funny thing about this is, majority of spree killers are white, yet white people are never treated as dangerous. It's always a mental issue.

This is not directed at Penny. I think we all know that the TM supporters here would be making a huge deal if GZ had THC in his blood. He's be a reckless, gun toting junkie who should never have been allowed to get a gun permit. Being under the influence of drugs would have clouded his judgement, etc etc. I can hear it now.

I personally think programs like AA hurt minorities more than help them. Last time we had a thread about that, RJ rolled in, picked a fight, then reported it and got it closed. So I guess we shouldn't be talking about affirmative action around here. The only safe topic is this ongoing trial.

The rest of the issues in this country can take a backseat until this trial is over. Just watching the threads on this trial in P&R and watching the coverage it gets in media is fascinating. It really shows what's important to people.

And this is what I was trying to say. We aren't predisposed to violent behavior, but when you look at the areas where we grow up, the constant threat of drugs, death, police brutality, and the like, I know what the odds are. What's worse is even if you don't act that way, you still have to pay for their sins. If a white person does it, that's on them, if a black person does it, the whole race is corrupt.

It also doesn't make him the criminal, street thug, "trash", "hyena" that others have made him out to be. I don't know why a few people in here keep mentioning the THC.

You'd swear by the way some people in here talked, weed and getting in trouble at school warrants the death penalty.

Neither of the people involved in this case were free of any wrong doing.

I just don't see how some people can hail GZ a hero for "taking out the trash", like has been said in this thread by a few. (Not you)

It does not warrant death but all these things potray a character.

Stealing, doing drugs, getting in fights, selling drugs - just shows he was not as innocent as potrayed by Al and Jesse.

I don't doubt that it is very difficult to overcome the odds. Much help and supported is needed. But if it doesn't start to happen at home, it's going to be a long and painful process. It seems to be getting worse in some places, not better. Kids learn what they are exposed to and far too many see this stuff at home everyday. The bad apples do spoil if for the good ones. One way or another, we are all products of our environment.
