Cynthia, the correct category is c(9).

They won't process his EAD unless you file the I-485 with it. So you're going to get the packet back anyway.

thanks for responding... so here is another question for anyone who can asnwer it for us... if they are going to just send it back to me is it ok to go ahead and submit a new one with the correct category (before the first one is bounced back to me) and send it to chicago (that seems to be another error i made, i sent it to Vermont because i used the a(6) category. Thanks for any information anyone can give us.
