They want to see that she has a happy life in Pakistan and that she will be happy to return to that life after visiting the US.

That makes a lot of sense. From the little bit of research I've done so far, it seems that while that's what they want to get at - they only accept very specific "hard proofs" to show it. For instance, of course she can't walk into the interview and just start talking about how much she loves her family! She has to show hard evidences like she's in school (she's not), she has a job (she does), onws property (she does), those kinds of things.

If you were advising her, are there any other things you might tell her to bring up during the interview, or bring with her to document that she does indeed have a happy life there?

And one point about this conference - it's a missions conference. In other words it is used to give some Biblical and theological training and then the whole purpose of it is to send people back into the countries they're from (or that they're working in) to do missions work.

Her explaining those conference details confidently could help.

However, you really have to look at it from their point of view. A Christian Pakistani would have a good shot at asylum and they might think that is her end goal once arriving in the US.

Yes, good point CC90. Although, isn't it true that to get asylum she herself would have had to have been under some specific threat? I think all Christians there are under a blanket general threat but to my knowledge she's never been under a specific threat to her.

I have seen ppl from where govt is elected by democratic process also seeking asylum once they have their foot on US soil.

Once they have their foot on US soil ppl go thru all the hoops and loops to see if they can continue to live here.

Sad

But true.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
